Best hotel in Riga
from pineappleeuropeBut please note that the marketing ploy of putting excellent beds in hotel rooms which has reached the rest of the world long ago has not arrived in Latvia yet. The bed in my hotel room was sooooo very bad - like an 70's bed with a thin cloth for a cover. I was told by a friend that some of the rooms have been renovated so make sure you request a renovated room.
Also be aware that Riga is the sex capital of the Baltics and even if you are not looking for action - which I am certainly not - you will be offered it everywhere. I found a funny package in my minibar - I realised it was a condom after further investigation - I have not seen condoms in minibars the past 10 years. Funny really.
Old Town Riga is amazing - really amazing. I didn't want to leave. Restaurans and shops are world class and I am sure you will have a great time in Riga.
Comfortable and cosmopolitan
from pjgyVery cold but great fun
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe rooms were very nice with 3 single beds (although a bit small for 3 girls getting ready for a night out). Equiped with mini bar, hair dryer, plenty of mirrors and all cleaned to a high standard.
Hotel had numerous bars but the best one was the Sky Bar on the 26th floor. Amazing views across the city. Drinks were a bit pricey but you pay for the view.
Planned to use the casino but after having a look round, decided not to bother. Looked like it was fold down tables rather than a fixed casino. People were playing but if you weren't playing you were not allowed to watch.
Shop on the ground floor of hotel great for refreshments, snacks, papers etc and all very reasonable priced.
Didn't eat in the hotel apart from breakfast on our 2nd day. Great choice of food and all very tasty.
The hotel is about 15 minutes from the airport and 10 mins walk to the old town. The old town seemed to have the main bars, restaurants etc. We spent both nights out in the old town and managed to try a good few bars. The nightlife is geared up for men - the sex trade is banging here. Saw many a prostitute but this didn't impact our evenings. We got a laugh out of spectating!
We hired a tour guide for a pub crawl from PartyInRiga - I'd recommend this for your first evening. The guide showed us around and ended with taking us to Club Essential - practically next door to our hotel. Great club and a short stumble home.
I'd recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a clean stay in Riga. This hotel has a touch of class.
Good New Year
from RTB93The hotel was packed over New Year but I found the staff to be more than competant, professional and approachable, and their level of English was excellent.
The rooms were spacious and warm, whilst the shower was superb; just what was needed to wash away the hangover.
Inside the hotel, make your way to the Skyline bar for some fantastic cocktails and some marvelous views. The women there were simply stunning but please read the following carefully.
The women are exceptionally good looking, but it is difficult to know who are the prostitutes and who are not. Alot of the girls will act friendly and will "ponce" free drinks off you allnight if you let them. Likewise the girls in the nightclub beneath the hotel called the Vodoo Lounge.
The club is full of hookers, some of whom will openly approach you, some of which will be a bit more sly and again will try and go down the "buy me a drink" path. It is also full of locals who are not particulary "Brit friendly" at the moment ( thanks to all the idiot scousers who have ruined it for everybody).
Overall there was 3 of us who went for New Year and I would highly recommend it. It was nice to go out on a New Years Eve and not experience any trouble whatsoever, with the average in the bars over 25 and over 21s in the clubs. No drunk teenagers in any of these venues.
A great wekend, a great hotel and a city I thoroughly recommend.
Great place
from pudraHotel has superb location, friendly staff and good rates. I love this hotel.
Sky bar is great
from wid2The Sky bar is Fantastic! 26 floors up serving quality cocktails at around £3 a drink, with wonderful decor and views across the city.
Breakfast was also very good as well.
Rooms are reasonable 4 star rooms, but could have done with a kettle in them, minibar was not too expensive.
Most staff were very helpful although the (some) reception staff appeared a little unhelpful at times. The porter was very good as were the barmaids/waitresses.
None of us were too impressed with the Voodoo nightclub, probably because of the music.
A nice visit to the Reval Hotel Latvija
from b82kloWe found the area behind the hotel to be a lot cheaper than the shops in Old Town Riga so if you go to Riga to do some shopping stay away from Old Town.
Excellant hotel
from GrimoorFood at the hotel was good and it has a Japanese restaurant as well which was very nice. Breakfast buffet was included in the price and had a good range of hot and cold dishes. And a chef to cook your eggs how you wanted them. If not there was a bowl of soft or hard boiled eggs and a tray of scambled eggs.
Room also has a mini bar and the prices are reasonable. We didn't think twice taking a bottles of drinks from the bar. And there are 3 menus for room service if you don't want to go out to eat and again the prices are reasonable.
Went to the casino in the hotel, which is supposed to be the biggest in the Baltics, it's not huge, but big enough and if a table is is full or a game not open you can just ask and they will open it up for you. Also there is a smoking and non smoking section. Drinks are generally free while you drink, expect cockails and non local beers like Crona.
Also has a nightclub in the hotel that's popular, with 3 rooms playing different music.
And there is the skybar on the 26 floor, which gives a great view of the town.
Security in the hotel is pretty good. on each floor there is a security door that you need to open with your room key before you can access the corridor with all the rooms. This key will only open the door on your floor, so adds a bit more security. There is no safe in the rooms.
I would not hesitate to stay at the hotel again if I came back to Riga.

Limo trip is a must PartyInRiga offer a 1 hour limo tour of the city with champagne. We did this on our first night and it really started the evening in style. We were however a bit worried when the limo driver couldn't speak a word of english and therefore couldn't confirm if we were his pick-up or not!!!! Riga isn't too large therefore not much to see - not that we were looking, sipping champagne and screaming like teenagers in a limo was much more fun. If you plan to do the limo tour, I'd recommend you take your own CDs. We played with the radio for about 30mins before we found decent music. Follow this up with the pub/club tour, you will not be disappointed
History If you want to learn something aboutt the country and its history, visit the occupation museum. Free entry and all the displays have english captions.
