Avoid - over-priced low quality hotel

We stayed in this hotel during our honeymoon and frankly it was a disgrace. The hotel has a four star rating but this is laughable (even taking into account the difference between UK and European ratings).
Subjectively, the decor is poor, the reception is dingy, the furniture is cheap and the rooms appear not to have been updated since it was built in the mid 1990s.
Objectively the rooms have no baths (certainly a pre-requisite of 4 star accommodations in the UK), the shower in the room we had flooded the entire bedroom every time it was used, light bulbs had blown and hadn't been replaced, there were no glasses for the mini-bar and no flannels in the bathroom amongst other things.
Whilst we would never normally complain, this was our honeymoon and given that we were paying £300 a night and it didn't in anyway compare to the other cheaper (but same star rating) hotels we had stayed in during the honeymoon, I felt I had to say something. We normally stay in relatively low quality hotels and I have never felt the need to complain before - I am not the type who is never satisfied with accommodation and usually as long as somewhere is clean and dry I am happy.
The attitude of the two duty managers (Daniele and Betty) was appalling. A mixture between patronisation and contempt. They were rude throughout and didn't take our complaint in any way seriously. This added to the poor service offered by the majority of the other staff and the poor quality of the food caused us to check-out after two nights rather than six. We had booked through a travel agent and as neither the agent nor the hotel would accept responsibility for our custom we lost £1,200. We are by no means rich and could only afford this hotel by virtue of the generosity of our wedding guests. The whole episode ruined what had been a fantastic experience.
Apparently the star rating is largely based on the location (which is undeniably amazing). This makes Sardinian ratings a complete joke and I would urge extreme caution before booking with this hotel. There are far better places in equally beautiful locations throughout Italy that charge a lot less.
