| Charming, immaculate cheap |

In a wonderful seeting high above Vicenza and in well kept grounds, this hotel is a real find. Although the furniture and decor is a bit like a monastery (the old ladies that run the place were probably nuns that staged a management buyout!), the place is quiet and very restful. Bar patio is well placed overlooking Vizenza and although it looks a long way into the city it is actually just a 15 minute walk down the hill. An 8 euro taxi ride for the family to the station. Breakfast was adequate but after 7 days in Italy we really wanted more than cerial and pastries. Some difficulty with my pigeon Italian when the little old ladies were manning reception and bar but in the evening and first thing, the charming younger receptionists spoke a variety of languages. Rooms a bit spartan but immaculate - no TV, and definately no hospitality bar. Superb value for money though and the best nights sleep of our tour of N Italy. |
