Fictional characters Shakespeare never left England...he never saw Italy, he made up all the details of his plays. While the story of star-crossed lovers who end up committing suicide is an old, old one...Shakespeare puts it in Verona, becasue plays sold well if they about exotic lands...like Italy. SO....when you visit Verona and see Juilet's house? Remember she was a fictional charater and did not live there....the Capulet family is made up... they did not live there. The house did not have a balcony until one was added in the 2oth century to satisfy tourists who wanted to see one. And her tomb is just as much a falicy...since she was a fictional character in a play, she didn't really die, and she was never buried....no matter how much the tour guides will try to convince you otherwise. Go see it...rememebr its all made up....
