I made a reservation for myself and 2 daughters (triple room) through disount website. I guess you get what you pay for. We were directed accross a very dirty carpet (maybe due to flooding in Venice...however we visited other hotels and didn't find them in such disrepair)to a room that smelled so putrid, we had to hold our breath. When I called the front desk for a change of room, I was told someone would come up to clean room. They informed me that it was the cannal water that smelled fowell.Well, not so, because we had walked to the hotel and there was not such smell anywhere but in this room (and perhaps a few others).A chamber maid came in with a bottle of air freshner, wich didn't mix very well with the existing smell. I went down to the registration and pleaded for change of room, first I was told by a very unfriendly receptionist that there were no other rooms available. Eventually someone admitted that the 05 (I'm not sure anymore about this number)line had backed up sewer......
