Water bus/taxi Don't pay the extortionate prices for the gondola rides. It's just as good on the water taxi's (private ride) or the water buses (for which there are stops at all the major attractions). They are also the cheapest method of getting around and you never have to wait long.There are so many sites and nothing is that far away it is sometimes nicer to do what we did and just wander the narrow streets and see where you end up.We walked out of a narrow cobbled street on to the huge and beautifully lit St. Marks Square and was one of the most breathtaking sites we saw. The lement of surprise made it so much more exciting. Too many places to visit so spread it over more than one trip to Venice. I can't wait to return.

arriving in venice try to travel light, if you can do it (I never do...)If needed, you can leave your suitcase at the saint Lucia train station, and they will keep it for you.Everything else is perfect
