Top Local Tips for Venice

venice card You can order a venice card on the internet and pick it up at the alilaguna office at marco polo airport which is open until midnight. It gives you unlimited access to buses and water buses, you can pay extra for free entry to some museums and churches (although many museums are not in the scheme). You can get 3 days or 7 days and you can use them on the bus from the airport. The website is venicecard.com.

go early to murano went to visit Murano to see glass being made - at 3pm everything was pretty much shut although museum was still open.

Transport from Airport It is expensive, particularly the water taxis, however, to avoid queues when arriving, recommended if you can afford it. We did the water taxi to the hotel, beat the crowds etc and arrive in style (James Bondesque!) and caught the Alilaguana back (much cheaper!).
