The staff was very welcoming as we lugged our heavy bags to the front desk, sweaty and cranky after the long trek that is arriving to Venice. Room was modest, big enough, and had an overhead fan. Bathroom was down the hall, and clean. Location was fantastic, very close to the center of things.

Top Local Tips for Venice

Getting away from the tourist zone After you have seen all the necessary sights, cross the nearest bridge and turn right. A liitle way down the lane you will come across a square which contains a church and a restaurant. On this side of the bridge tourists are few and far between, the alleys are wider and the tourist shops rare. Dinner or lunch at the aforementioned restaurant is much cheaper than in the tourist area and you get to share the square with Venetian locals. We decided to walk to the Public Gardens at the end of the islands making minimal use of our map. It was perhaps the most enjoyable day we had in Venice.
