A small Hotel,very clean and facilities up to date - good location, a little difficult to find! but very close to the Rialto Bridge (Grand Canal) and San Marco. Lots of shops restaurants and pubs close by, but strangely no noise heard inside hotel! Staff very friendly and helpful- no dining room but, breakfast- ordered the evening before, arrives in your room at whatever time you specify. This is not an expensive hotel and for what we paid I think we got extremely good service. The one downside is that the hotel is four storeys, and no lift so not for the elderly or disabled.

Lots of stuff about Venice If it seems expensive to take a water taxi, its well worth it. Do it in one direction, choose when the weather is fantastic. Ask the driver to take you up the grand canal , the photo opportunites are fantastic! Drink in the small corner bars in the small shopping streets, and get a snack lunch sitting on a bar stool there. They are also like off licences, so buy wine to take back to the hotel! Save the large waterfront cafes for a grand gesture, like cocktails once in the trip (not cheap) Also eat in the small trattoria in the back streets, they have three course menus for about 25 euros and wine by the jug. St Mark's Basilica is free unless you want to see the museum. But do see the museum, it costs 3 euros each, gives you a view over the basilica interior and close up of the mosaics on the ceiling. It also lets you out onto the roof, which fantastic views over the square and waterfront. And the original Byzantine horses from the front of the basilica are up there.

Avoid being overcharged... Stay away from the high density tourist areas when it comes to your dining choice. Back street tratorrias usually provide both authenticity and value.
