Top Local Tips for Venice

Leave your car at home When you consider the real cost of using a car - around 0.25€ per km, don't waste time & money coming to Venice by car. You will pay hefty parking charges just for the pleasure of not being able to use your vehicle. I just paid 101€ for a round trip for two people from Paris (Beauvais). Even when you add the cost of getting to/from airports you still win hands down.

Eating in Venice Never eat within 4 streets of St Marks - always use the back streets otherwise you will have to sell your house to pay for the pleasure. Save up though fro one evening with a coffee in St Marks listening to the entertainment which must not be missed. Get a boat trip to Murano and eat late in the evening there - return across the lagoon as the sun comes down.

Gondola Trips The price for a gondola trip is now 100 euros per 50 minutes. The gondoliers will not move from this price. Be warned! If you desperately want to go on one make sure you bring enough money!
