Three women traveling in Venice couldn't have been happier. Unlike some, we thought the breakfast buffet exceptional. Only item not up to 4 stars was the hair dryer. "3 from Colorado"

Very acceptable hotel in an excellent position. Pity about the breakfast, certainly not 4 star. Limited choice especially for vegetarians.

Top Local Tips for Venice

Ryanair Venice has two airports. Ryanair only fly out of the very small airport called Venice Treviso. We arrived like many others at the airport to find our flight was not there. We then had to get a taxi to the other airport, although the airport is only 25 minutes away, it cost 70 Euro for a taxi to take us.

Venice Lido and Murano. The Venice Lido is tatty and a waste of time. The Public Beach is small, grubby and dominated by a huge pink concrete abomination. Dreadful. Another place to avoid is Murano. Touts harass tourists around St Marks Square with the offer of a free boat trip to the island. Once there, the pressure applied to coerce visitors into buying decorative glass, much of which is cheap imported rubbish. The touts can turn aggressive if a purchase is not made. Visitors must organise their own return boat trip !

Walk, walk, walk We found by walking everywhere you discover lots of art exhibitions and events that you might have missed by using public transport
