Went to Venice with friends to this hotel, booked two superior rooms, ours was ok but our friends where put in what could be described as an elongated broom cupboard two single beds end on end. The space between the beds and the wall was approximatly 1mtr
but in that 1 mtr there was a wardrobe and dressing table,there was not enough space to pass each other easily, not really very satisfactory. The en suite was excellent.

Top Local Tips for Venice

Venice public transport As confusing as the Venice public transport system can look, it's not that difficult to suss out. The main water bus stops are clearly marked with the direction of travel and the number of bus stopping there. The boat assistants will call the direction of the boat as the passengers offload anyway, but if in doubt just state the name of your stop and listen for the Si or No! Beware of water taxis, you have to pay for the hire of the entire boat and so these are very expensive. Gondola's are good but again very expensive, you can pay up to €100 for 30 mins so be sure to haggle! Water Bus No. 1 goes all the way from the main bus port right over to Lido, stopping at most stops along the grand canal. No. 82 also goes from the main bus port along the Grand Canal but stops at selective stops. Some guide books (lonely planet) have the trasnport lines in the back, failing that, most of the bus stops themselves have the lines on. I'd recommend using the buses, even if just for the experience!

the Carnival For something special : Try a theatre evening – ‘Carnival’ - look out for this show... we decided to book tickets to make a change from eating out. It has a buffet style meal is included in the cost @ Eu79 each (Aug2007). [Tip3. the hot food is in the second room] - It was a brilliant show, telling the story of 'old Venice' “the city that wears masks” and of course Casanova..! They used all the theatrical tricks in the book, including some new ones ( vast video projections etc.) The whole show is performed in English and is entirely professionally delivered. The theatre is not massive and on an Aug summer evening was quite hot. [Tip4. take with you an authentic Venetian fan to move some air around (lots available in the souvenir shops)].
