Top Local Tips for Venice

La Fenice: Tosca was fabulous for our 8 year olds! We went to a matinee with our kids (very exposed to opera) to see Puccini's beautiful opera, Tosca. Our eldest child sang, "Everybody dies!" enthusiastically as we waited for the opera to begin. The box office let us pay for 2 seats with our kids sitting on our lap! Our seats were fabulous and the kids noted we were so close to the "Doge's box" (filled with enthusiastic Stanford students). The kids were also impressed we had a box! We were a bit underdressed, given that this was a spontaneous purchase, but our dressy boxmates from Vincenza were nonplussed (especially since the kids were well-behaved and enjoyed the opera). Italians love kids!

Venice Trip Use the public transport. Bus is 3.60 return from Union Lido, ACTV public boat is 16 Euro for 12 hour return with unimited public bus boats in Venice
