Just returned from venice on 24th march. After reading very negative views about the hotel i was pleasantly suprised when we arrvied. Great location, less than five minutes walk from St Marks square and great views from the roof garden overlooking the basin. Hotel was very clean, not modern but in keeping with the history of Venice. The staff were very friendly and i would go back there again.

Top Local Tips for Venice

Find the small boutiques There are all the name brand stores which are fun and wonderful. But there are alot of artisans in and around the smaller side streets that make their own scarves and hats and bags and shoes. Those are the real finds!

Airport transfers Pre-book Alilaguna airport transfers on line. This avoids queueing to buy them at the airport. Good value, water taxis very expensive (but fun, you have to ty them at least once).
