Top Local Tips for Venice

To and from the airport I found a tip on tripadvisor to get the gold service from the airport (Marco Polo) to San Marco Piazza which is 25 euros instead of the normal 10 euros. We did this and I thoroughly recommend it! We waited with approximately 30 tourists all loaded with luggage, etc and we were the only ones on the gold service route! We effectively had a private taxi. Every vaperetto we saw was packed full on people. To travel with bags would be a nightmare. We arrived in about 35 minutes and were thoroughly happy with our choice.

Gondolas Gondola rides can be very expensive on average £100 for 30 mins, if you still want to enjoy the experience, ensure you barter for a good deal, they will come down in price. Also my tip would be to take a trip at night, its so much more enchnanting.

Avoid water taxi Water taxi is extremely expensive. No taxi cap will move for less than 20 Euro. Do not take water taxi late at night because you will be ripped off. Buy muti day water bus ticket that you have unlimited use for 20 Euro. You can go anywhere with it. Do not arrive at Venice late because not sure about how to get to your hotel you will have no choice but to use the water taxi. For attraction, take the Grand Canal tour. You may sign up at the local tourist office near the San Marco Square, there are two of them.
