Top Local Tips for Venice

NONE HERE WE WOULD HAVE LIKED A BIT OF ENTERTAINMENT IN THE EVENING, BUT THE CITY SEEM TOO GO TO BED BY 10 PM, THE FOOD IS REALY BAD AND REALY OVER PRICED, THE LOCALS DONT EAT IN THE RESTAUAUNTS AND THIS IS A BAD SIGN, I STILL LOVED THE CITY, AND WOULD GO AGAIN, ITS SO ROMANTIC, FOR COUPLES IT WOULD BE GREAT, NOT THE PLACE FOR SINGLES !

Water Taxis vs Waterbuses Private water taxis are quick but very expensive. We paid 90 Euros (approx $135) for a 20 minute ride from the airport to the Hotel Columbina. The waterbus or "Vaporetto" takes longer but is considerably less. Due to our late arrival into Venice we had no other choice but to ride in a private water taxi because they are the only transit that run late in the evening.

Gondolers If you are happy spending £80 on half an hour in a posh boat go for it, but if you want to ride in one for much less ride on a Traghetto, the gondolers that take you from one side of the Grand Canal to the other for 50cent. It doesn't last long but at least you can say you have been in one. Failing that find other tourists who want to go in one and split it between 6-8 people.
