Very clean hotel, very friendly & helpful staff. Room overlooked the inner courtyard (noisy a/c unit). Shower totally lacked pressure. Limited wardrobe storage. Overall good but not the best, certainly not 4 star. Hey! the city is beautiful - but expensive!

Had concerns of the hotel before travelling due to a few reviews, but these were instantly dismissed upon arrival. The hotel was easily accessible via bus number 5 from the airport and within easy reach of all modes of transport. The staff were extremely welcoming and the hotel itself was beautifully decorated with cosy and comfortable rooms. Breakfast was plentiful, especially enjoyed the scrambled eggs! Venice itself is a beautiful city, we tended to walk everywhere so not to miss the exquisite buildings, cobbled streets and quaint bridges. Eating out is very expensive, and we were quite shocked to be charged for the use of table mats at one point! Overall though, would highly recommend a visit and a stay at this wonderful hotel.

Venice weekend

Recommend this hotel for a long weekend stay. Very convenient for sight seeing as close to bus terminals and situated on the grand canal with waterbus station opposite. Didn't eat in hotel so can't comment on dinner, but breakfast was excellent, good service and plenty of choice. Our room didn't overlook the grand canal but overlooked a small courtyard which meant it was quiet during the night and first thing in the morning. All in all a good choice.

My wife and I spent our honeymoon in this hotel, a really lovely hotel. It is perfectly placed for sightseeing and was no problem getting from the airport bus to the hotel. The hotel over looks the Grande canal. That alone was fantastic. The public areas all throughout the hotel are well decorated in a rich and opulent style and all areas clean, I didn't notice any tatty hallways that you see in some hotels. The reception and its staff, all very friendly and helpful with English speaking staff. The bedroom, (which was one of their standard rooms) was very nice with a lovely feel of Venice in the decor. It was an average size. Our room was at the back of the hotel and was very quiet, (but without the lovely canal view). I do however wish we had up graded to a room facing the canal as it is such a lovely sight especially at night with all the lights. I myself don't mind the hustle and bustle of the canal boats etc. If however you prefer plenty of quiet and are not bothered with a view ask the hotel for a room that fits your requirement. They seemed very accommodating. The morning breakfast was perfect. A real feast. A buffet breakfast to suit all, Eggs, sausage, bacon, meats, cheese, croissants, rolls, cereal, fruit, yogurt, an assortment of hot drinks (the whole shebang). With plenty of space in the restaurant to enjoy your food. We both really enjoyed the food here. The thing I noticed most was how friendly and professional all the staff were, really lovely. They make you feel like you are important to them. Everything ordered via room service was prompt and of good quality, I seem to remember ordering a drink though via room service which was a bit pricey, (do check the price before ordering). Although do remember this is Venice and prices for food and drink are high everywhere. The mini bar was fairly well stocked. The price in this case however seemed not too bad as mini bars go. I seem to remember a pricelist in the room for the mini bar so do check first. We had a really lovely time in Venice, one of the highlights was a Bach concert in a church near to academia, which was just divine. I do recommend getting a pass for the water bus as it saved us a lot of money that we may have otherwise spent on water taxis. Venice can be pretty expensive for eating out so do look around for the best deals and don't overlook the little bars. We went into a few that served cheap snacks or light bites. I seem to remember a few cheap eats around the back streets towards the side of St. Marks. Also We found ,a very cheap little pizza snack bar just across the canal near the little bridge, the bridge very near to the station and water bus stop that is, facing the hotel . Honestly though after some of those buffet breakfasts in the hotel a light bite was all we needed until our evening meal. Although some days we did a fair bit of walking to take in some of the sights on foot. Which was just as well with so many food temptations around we needed to walk off a few calories. I do recommend a nice afternoon cake or pastry with a good Italian coffee though, very nice. I would recommend having the buffet breakfast included in the room price as it meant we spent a lot less eating out. All in all we loved the hotel and recommend it for a lovely stay in Venice.

We just came back from venice and I have to say although there were a few reviews I`ve read before departure which were not so nice about this hotel, I have nothing to complain about! The rooms are a little bit small, even the deluxe rooms, but the location is perfect, although the staff may seem a little bit chaotic and confused every once in a while, they were very friendly, especially felippo from the restaurant, and all requests I´ve made before arrival were completely fulfilled (smoking room, flowers, friut bascet, greeting card,...). the breakfast buffet was very nice, you cannot expect that much variety all over italy, but comparing to other hotels in italy we never left the hotel hungry... If you are still suspicious, I can recommend also the "Monaco and Grand Canal" because of its amazing view from the terrace, and the hotel "Principe" because of its location!

One of the very best for srvice and cleaniness. The comfort of this hotel and the splendid immediate view of the Grand Canal within three meters from the outdoor seating made a lot of difference to our stay in busy and bustling Venice. More importantly was the receeptionist Claudia who was ever courteous, gentle, approchable, welcoming young Claudia who was always attentive to our needs. The short walking distance to the train station accross,Marks Square and promixity to the restaurants make this a great place to stay in Venice. Price was marginally excessive but that is Venice, essentially a tourist market.

On arrival we were met by helpful informative and friendly staff, they advised on the places of interest and even circled a map supplied by themselves. The reception staff even helped me organise a surprise birthday gift for my other half. We had our luggage delivered to our room and the room was changed by the porter as he was not happy with the room supplied. At the continental breakfast there was a vast variety to choose from. The hotel was clean and the room was cleaned on a daily basis with fresh towels provided daily. The hotel is ideally located for access to all points of interest. We would certainly return to this hotel in the future without any hesitation.

Must agree with reviewer C. Runyon below. Bar and breakfast staff friendly, but whole hotel let down by 3 snooty & incompetent front desk staff unwilling to help with luggage (important in Venice) having messed up porter booking. Not a place to return to depite convenient location.

The hotel is located at the beginning of the grand canal, away from the crowds. There are a number of transport and dining options near by. The breakfast selection was fair, but had the best capuccino i've ever tasted. The rooms are clean and comfortable. As an old world european 4 star hotel I thought it was very nice.
