Discounts in Venice for those under 29 - Rolling Venice and water bus If you are a traveler under the age of 29 and are looking for tips on discounts in Venice - read on! As soon as you arrive, you should buy a "Rolling Venice" card - it costs 4 euros and gets you discounts on lots of hotels, restaurants, and attractions throughout Venice. No, I don't work for Rolling Venice - I just wish I'd discovered it earlier. For example, it more than paid for itself just the first time I used it - to buy a "Museum Pass" good for all museums run by the City of Venice. If you are interested in seeing quite a few of the museums, I would definitely recommend the Museum Pass. I went to almost everything on it and found most things worthwhile. The Rolling Venice card also entitles you to buy a discounted 3-day waterbus card good for unlimited rides (price is something like 18 euros instead of the normal 30 euros). Have fun!

Vaporetto - Skip it Venice is small, and if you are able-bodied, it is easily walkable from one site to the next. We bought vaporetto tickets for the day, but they are so slow and hot to wait for in the summer that it just was a waste of time. It was faster to walk for us.

Doges Palace-Secret Itineraries tour and St. Marks Basilica This tour was one of the best things we did! If you book this tour in advance, you get to skip the line, you get a great tour not on the regular tour agenda, plus you get to go back and see the main halls later. The guide was great! Also, first, when seeing St. Marks Basilica, take a Rick Steves tip and check your bags BEFORE YOU STAND IN LINE!! The check in is Ateneo S. Basso, on Calle S. Basso near St. Marks. If you check your bag, then you get to bypass everyone else standing in an extremely long line!
