Lovely hotel in great location, away from the tourist traps

What a great hotel?! Small and friendly with very helpful staff, clean, well decorated rooms with views over the side canals of the Grande Canal, approx 1hr 30 mins walk through backstreets and piazza's otherwise unexplored by the hoards of tourists from St Marks Square. Vaporetti stop just 250m away from the door to the hotel which takes you to all the main attractions - 10 euros for a day ticket! Will definitely return to this charming hotel.

Comfortable with an Old World Feel

The room was very comfortable and clean with old style furniture overlooking a small canal. The hotel provided a very nice continental breakfast each morning. The room price was relatively reasonable.
The only complaint I have is that it was difficult getting instructions from the staff on duty on how to make phone calls from the hotel room. It was close to the train station but far enough away to walk with a heavy bag and would have been expensive to take a water taxi.
It was in a good location for walking the back streets and exploring Venice without being in the really busy areas. Lots of restaurants in the area. Close to the boats running along the Grand Canal
I would stay here again with lighter luggage.

Arlecchino was fine for us. The location makes it easy to arrive and to depart without making long walkes while carring the baggage. Everything was nearby and the people working there where very friendly.

Top Local Tips for Venice

Don't bother Venice has an excellent system of vaporetti (water buses), traghetti (small passenger boats that cross the grand canal where there isn't a bridge) and ferries linking all parts of the island. Use these however and you are missing out on the best parts of Venice - all the little streets, quaint squares and grand churches that set this place apart from anything else in Europe.

So easy to use! When in Venice, you can go anywhere using the public water bus. The vaporetto travels down the Grand Canal and goes to the islands of Murano, Burano and Lido. Buy a day or multi-day pass and you can hop on and hop off as need be. Remember to validate your ticket first using the yellow stamp machine! Best way to see all the great sights Venice has to offer!

Stay away from Murano The free taxi ride to Murano may seem like an excellent deal. But the glass factories there are outrageously priced and they are a HARD SALE. If you want to see the beautiful glass...take a Valpretto and wander around. It is truly free and no one will be bugging you to BUY BUY BUY
