Top Local Tips for Venice

Babies with buggies Just be warned - Venice is full of steps to get over bridges etc and VERY narrow alleyways, so think twice about brining that double (or even single) stroller / pushchair. Many people used the backpack baby carrier for this reason. Plus there are not many things for toddlers / young children to do in Venice. There is however a play area near the Formosa square.

venice REVISION ON THE TRIP FIRST! Its easy to get lost down those little streets, and remember if your eat / shop down the little back streets its much cheaper than in St Marks Square!

Navigating the streets If you've never been to Venice, be prepared for an interesting adventure when navigating the streets. The streets twist, turn, and dead end when you least expect. The streets change names at the slightest turn, and the streets are not always labeled so you think you're on one street and you end up on another. Do not be daunted, though, because the city is generally small, the maps are decent if followed closely, and you can usually end up where you want to go if you have some patience. :-) The directions to the hotel (from their website) are accurate so don't worry when you start heading down very narrow streets/walkways to get there. Just when you think you must be going the wrong way, you're probably not.
