Location is the best if you want to move within Venice. Actual time you spent at night in hotel room in Venice was minimal but essentials were there, clean and courteous. Paid in Euro and got good deal. Would stay there again if travelling with wife only.

Top Local Tips for Venice

Rent your own motor boat and drive the Grand Canal Forget the gondola ride....for about $20 per hour you could rent your own motor boat and drive it around the Grand Canal in Venice. It was a blast! The rental place was called Brussaisboat in Cannaregio and their website is brussaisboat.it

ATMs Not all bank ATMs in Venice, even some Dutch and German banks, accept non-EU bank cards, but don't give up!

avoid the morning crowds - stay in the heart of the city We stayed in a hotel (Ai do Mori -see my review) on the edge of San Marco Piazza. It's a little more work when first arriving in Venice to get there, but was really very easy to catch a vaparetto (water bus) from the train station, and an enjoyable ride. Once we got off the boat, we only had to walk a block or two with luggage to get to the hotel. In the morning, we walked out the door and immediately enjoyed the shops and restaurants before the crowds arrived. Bonus: the campanile tower and the city clock are lovely to listen to from your hotel room, but thankfully, they don't go all through the night, which allowed us to sleep in quiet peace!
