Six of us stayed at the Abbazia in October, 2005. The rooms were very nice and clean. The men at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was very good. We had a great stay at the Abbazia. We highly recommend!

Lovely hotel with unusal bar area formerly a chapel with the pulpit & benches still insitu (lovely comfortable furniture for the guests however). The bedroom was comfortable and pleasant. The air conditioning was available and adjustable which was necessary when we stayed 4-7 July 05. There are bells which sound each morning, but this was expected and did not bother us at all. The breakfast was fairly basic and fast moving as there were many guests but adequate. We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed our trip to Venice very much and particularly our stay at the Hotel Abbazia. We would certainly stay there again as it is so convenient for the railway station and the Piazza Roma (bus station) and a water bus right at the end of the alleyway from the hotel. Almost perfect!

Top Local Tips for Venice

Off the beaten track English is widely spoken, but if you want to explore and use little bars and trattoria, learn a few words of Italian: different types of coffee, foods, numbers, greetings.You'll be surprised how easy it is to lose the crowds.

Get on the Bus! THe road Bus from Marco Polo into Venice stopped at the pretty cnetral Pl. Roma and cost just 2 Euro per adult - amazing in comparison with Water Taxi's who were wuite arrogant and charged over 200 Euro in some cases!! From the bus stop you can take a water bus almost any where for jut 6 Euro, but if you have the time and your luggae is not too heavy, enjoy the beautiful walk. - Oh, and the bus doesn't charge you for each piece of luggage you have, bu the water bus does!. You cn buy bus tickets at the airport and the staff are very helpful. on returning take the bus from D2 to the airport, again just 2 Euro!!

Baggage check We finally found the baggage check area after we disembarked from our cruise. It is n P. Roma - I believe one or two storefronts from the bus ticket office. This was so convenient to use after (or before) cruising as we did not have to lug all of our suitcases to the hotel.
