My wife and I stopped at the hotel for 4 nights. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was very comfortable and very convenently located. There are restaurants within easy reach and the one recommended by the concierge was excellent. We will definitely return here.

This small hotel was in an excellent location, being on a small canal and also accessible from a small alley close to La Fenice. We did not find it hard to find (as we had read in other reviews)as we downloaded the map from the hotel's own website before we left home and simply followed the map from the ferry point at St. Marks. It was quiet yet less than 10 minutes walk from St. Marks Square and the Rialto Bridge.The room we had was beautiful with fabric on the walls, plenty of room to sit, a small but well designed bathroom, and our windows looked out onto the small canal at the back. It was a very clean hotel and although there were no meals available apart from breakfast, that was better than some continental breakfasts offered in Italy. The staff were helpful and friendly. We had a thoroughly enjoyable 4 day stay and would stay there again.

Top Local Tips for Venice

Water taxis Arriving and departing by water taxi, if you can afford about €100 to central Venice from Marco Polo, is an added experience. Cruising along the Grand Canal in a water taxi directly to or from your hotel without dragging your luggage along narrow alleys and uneven footpaths is a luxury and a pleasure. Riding the No. 1 Vaporetto is recommended in the guide books, but this beats it. Approaching the airport, with planes low over your head dispells the disappointment of leaving this unique city.

Water Bus If you can afford the direct waterbus from the Marco Polo Airport take it . . . it is quicker.

Take a water taxi if you can If your hotel has direct canal access then the stylish way to arrive and leave is by water taxi. More expensive than the vaporetto but worth it because the journey from the airport can be tedious. Make sure it is a genuine taxi; they have a yellow stripe on the side. Ask about the price before you get in to avoid any confusion later. Take a map with you but expect to get lost in the streets. Most people do. Enjoy the experience. Consider taking spare memory and batteries for your digital camera, but you can buy them locally if necessary and the prices are not outrageous.
