Top Local Tips for Venice

pack light!! Venice is not made for heavy/many luggage. The bridges are made of steps -- you can't really roll your luggage. For ease of travelling through the typically crowded venice streets, pack a single luggage per person, pack light enough to lift up and down stairways.

Walk the backstreets Go around the backstreets particularly around Peggy Googenheim Museum. Which is full of dreadful modern art

Venice Bienniale This massive art exhibition is fantastic - it is on this time until November 07 - I cannot reccommend it highly enough. You can either just find locations around the centre of Venice and visit for free or go to the paying exhibition at the gardens. The city centre locations give an amazing insight into lots of fabulous buildings you wouldn't normally see - with really cool installation art in a lot. I would say you wouldn't have to be a real art lover either as there were lots of cool interactive things that just made us go 'wow'! (Especially the Mexico pavillion!) The paying exhibition is also worth doing - we were in the giardini venue for around 5 hours. It's like a big park with buildings for each country and different art in each one. All the buildings are different and its a really cool thing to see!
