4 of us traveling together rented 2 rooms at Le Boteghe. This turned out to be very centrally located just off the Grand Canal and a few minutes walk to Piazza San Marco and the Realto Bridge. The rooms were modern and spotless, the bathroom was clean and new... Clara our hostess, was very friendly and helpful with maps, etc. Our breakfast was great! Would definitely stay there again.

Top Local Tips for Venice

Thoughts on Venice The slowness of vaporetto travel in Venice forces you to slow down too. Things can be pretty busy and touristy, especially around San Marco piazza. Enjoy the best part of Venice: just wandering about enjoying the abundant shops, canals and bridges in this unique city. If you get lost, relish the adventure. People are friendly and helpful here, and streets are safe at all hours. Don't rush the sites. Enjoy the interesting seafood. Don't miss the unique fizzy wines. Even if toursity, enjoy the live music at San Marco every evening. Even if touristy, skip the gondola rides. Don't judge the city for the touristy Rialto district, and the abundant Pakistani and Nigerian street hustlers. Don't forget things close down a little earlier here than other major Italian cities. (A reminder, once again, to slow down a little.) Don't breathe too deeply around some of the canals. This city is so romantic, especially after majority of the day-tripper tourists have departed after 4pm or so.Plan on sped

Finding your way around Off the vaporetti, there isn't any and don't believe it when they say "you can't get lost in Venice", "just follow the crowds". On a rainy day there's no-one about and no visible landmarks, and anyway on a 2nd or 3rd visit you're not merely going to aim for the Rialto Bridge, or St Mark's!
