Mosquito Hell You must take mosquito repellant and some sort of fly spray (as the mosquito repellent isnt enough!!). If i went again i would take a coil or one of the plug in mosquito repellents there.

Basic Travelling Details If anyone is planning to reach Venice (Treviso Airport) by air then would reccomend to have a look at the train also, as the airport is quite far from the city about 45 min drive. Basically its not the drive but its 1st go to the airport 1 hour or more before the flight then taking the bus / taxi to the hotel etc is again 45 min, so if one can take a train it saves the hassel of time & also cost wise is the same. As for Venice transportation, since Venice is very small on can walk & reach anywhere one feels like. Maybe for elderly people or people who are not really keen to walk can use the public transport such as water bus. The water bus tickets are about 6 Euro each which is valid for some time i think. I feel one can walk the entire city in 1 hour or a little more.

Get a vaporetto pass If you are there for longer than 24 hours, get a vaporetto pass. You can explore pretty much all of Venice via vaporetto and walking. At 6.50 Euros one way, a pass saves you a ton of money. The #1 stops at all stops along the Grand Canal and runs every 10 minutes. Buy one at Piazzale Roma or San Marco. 26 Euros for 48h. Also, if you are a risk taker, and want to squeeze out a few extra hours out of your pass, don't swipe it right away when you get on, we only saw ticket inspectors once, and never on the busy routes. Your pass isn't activated until you swipe it the first time. If inspectors get on board, they wear Navy blue and have man purses with their ticket scanners. If you get caught, play dumb. But inspectors are far and few between. We never saw them on the number 1 or 2 and we rode them constantly for 2 days. We bought our passes at noon and hopped on, but didn't swipe til 5 pm, and got an extra 5 hours.
