Just come back from 2 weeks in this Hotel a more friendly place would be hard to find.Don't understand previouse comment on food i went through most of the meals on offer and found them to be high quality with plenty to choose from well presented and very tasty the service from this family is excelent our room at the back was better than some 4 star Hotels we have been to the views are wonderfull the facilities excelent we do tend to go to bed early and rise early and slept with no problems only the odd scrapping of table and chairs from inconsiderate people above I did intend adding some snaps but it would spoil the the suprise of some of the views like the sunset over the mountains you can see when having Dinner that shines through the fountain at the front of the Hotel and adds magic to this special place and only a short walk takes you to the Harbour and little side streets with Bars and a few shops follow your nose and find the two churches both worth a visit and the public transport by bus or boat can take you all around the lake Wonderfull
Think carefully about lake view

Have just returned from a seven day stay at Hotel Benacus, Torri del Benaco. Lovely spot and one of the least touristed. Beautiful harbour.Good public transport connections.
Hotel appears to have been refurbushed since last entry on this site. Rooms modern and very clean, if somewhat basic. If you decide to take the lake view and the balcony - be advised - the hotel runs alongside the (very) busy lake road, the noise from the road goes on for almost 24-7 and at weekends doesn't really die down until about 04.00am. The balconies don't have any awnings to protect you from the sun (35-40 degrees C at its height) so you'll literally fry and be drowned out by traffic noise. Couple this with no air conditioning in rooms (only three hotels around Lake Garda hav air con)and no fan provided you won't be able to sleep with the door/window open which makes for a very uncomfortable night.
Sevice is satisfactory. Evening meal is a limited menu.
The aspect of paying in cash (previously mentioned)also surprised me - but this seems to be a custom (try cashing a travellers cheques at one of the local banks - they won't do it)
All in all a clean and comfortable tourist hotel

From the outside the hotel appeared attractve and booked in for one night. The welcome was pleasant but the request to pay in cash was somewhat strange.
The room was spacious and clean but in need of refurbishment as furnishings were late sixties style.
Would not recommend the hotel to potential guests.

The staff fall over themselves to be friendly and are very efficient. For instance, if you want to take breakfast outside on the terrace they gladly transfer your tableware. Food is excellent. Usual continental breakfast. Evening meals: salad bar if you wish; four choices of starters and of mains; puddings consist of choice of ice creams, pannacotta with selection of fruit, cakes/gateaux, fruit salad, etc - beautiful. Short walk into Torri (which is a hundred yards of pavement-less main road, then a couple of hundred yards pedestrian-only). In my opinion the nicest town on Lake Garda. I'd go back to this hotel.
