Convenient and great views

The hotel was well located, a short walk to the ferry stop to get to Como or Bellagio. The rooms were comfortable, recently upgraded, with a balcony and stunning views. There was a restaurant on the premises serving authentic Italian food with friendly and efficient service. To be recommended if you are visiting Lake Como.

A dreadful hotel - avoid at all costs

We booked a room for two nights at the Glavjc as we were in Torno for a wedding. The hotel looked lovely on the website, and we were looking forward to a couple of relaxing nights. We arrived at the hotel late on the Friday night and were instantly appalled at the decor and state of the hotel. It looks as if it were decorated in 1970 and hasn't been updated since. The rooms, and the hotel, are bare and depressing and the decor included polystyrene ceiling tiles, hospital type lights and vast amounts of orange velour.
The views are stunning, and our room had a decent sized balcony looking out over the lake and I have no idea why the owners would not update the decor.
Breakfast was a buffet in a horribly depressing dining room and the whole place seems to be stuck in a time warp.
Secondly, on the night of the wedding, we informed the manager that we would be back later than 1am - as instructed in the ancient plastic folder of info in the room. He said this was fine and we went to a fantastic wedding at the Hotel Vapore in Torno. We arrived back at the hotel at just after 2am to find the manager dozing on the sofa who then proceeded to tell us of and kept muttering 'we close at 1am' 'hotel shuts at 1am' refused to accept we'd told him, and generally ruined what had been a lovely evening.
The Glavjc is a dull depressing hotel with rude and unpleasant staff and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Tiny rooms but spectacular views

This hotel had tiny rooms, and We had to change rooms twice, as the beds were very uncomfortable. The hotel need's updating, but the rooms were very clean. The view over Lake como is spectacular however. The food in the evening is delicious, although breakfast was poor. The hotel has ample parking, with very tight bends! In my opinion the hotel is a 2 star rating, mainly based on the poor rooms, the walls are so thin you can hear your neighbour coughing at night! Not a very relaxing experience for your holiday.
