Hotel Primavera has best value We felt the Hotel Primavera offered the best value in Stresa which can be expensive. We went in the off season and it was lovely although a little cool.

Boat Trip to Locarno we caught the train from Milan to Stresa and then went on the Lake Maggiore express to Locarno in Switzerland. We starting with the boat trip to Locarno which was excellent. Prebooked the Hotel du Lac for overnight stay - good idea - I managed to prebook lunch on the three hour boat trip. Four Courses and coffee, small bottle of water and 1/4 litre of wine each. A truly enjoyable trip. Next day we caught the afternoon Panoramici Train via the Cento Valli (hundred valleys) through remarkable scenery to Dommodossola in Italy. If you catch the train MAKE SURE YOU BOOK THE PANORAMIC TRAIN as some trains are just the normal ones. Then caught the train Italia train back to Stresa. 35 Euros each and tremendous value. You need your passport altho no one checked we had it!
