Top Local Tips for Spoleto

Market There is a very large open-air market in Spoleto with scores of stalls selling everything: hardware, pots & pans, Italian wool sweaters, handbags, produce, bed linens, shoes, lingerie, etc. There's also a porchetta truck where you can buy a porchetta (pork) sandwich or slices of the pork. For a picnic lunch, we bought several slices of pork, as well as a handful of clementine oranges at the produce stand. Then we drove up the hill to the duomo - just next to the parking lot below the church is a small shady park with great views across the plain. This is a pleasant, quiet spot for a picnic lunch - or just a brief respite from the heat.
