Ripped off by a taxi driver I was ripped off by a taxi driver who had his meter fixed to go at maybe double the rate. The manager at the hotel I stayed at said I should have asked for a receipt so the hotel or police could follow this guy up.

travel We drove a small hire car but swapped to use the train to get into Naples. Walking around Naples was easy, the city being quite compact. Crossing the roads - do it like the locals. Go for it, look where you're going not at the traffic and they all drive around you. Parking costs and time allowances are difficult to get right and the car tow chaps are on a contract! Hiring the scooter from Sorrento was easy and great, it's not as dodgy as it looks on those cliff roads as you're small and more manouverable than a car.

Buses Be prepared to get up on time as the buses are few and far between (although they do stop outside the hotel). Driving in this part of Italy is manic!
