Cheap lunch - best pizza we ate in Italy The best Pizza we ate in Italy cost 1 euro per slice from Pizza De Franco, a little shop just on the left on the walk into the Piazza from the Tourist Hotel, really nice cheap lunch, they also did ciabatta really nice and freshly made.

August is holiday time for the Italians too. We had a great week but next time will probably not visit in August. The heat was not the problem. It was around 30 degrees, but can be hotter than this at other times of the year. Everywhere was very busy, but this meant that Sorrento in the evening had a great atmosphere. Our rep. (in a bid, we think, to persuade people to do the extortionaltely priced "Capri by night" trip for 85 Euros) had told us there would be no point trying to visit the Blue Grotto on Capri as we would need to queue for up to 5 hours. We caught the 8.30 a.m. hydrofoil to Capri & then queued for 5 minutes! If going in high holiday season, the trick is to plan ahead. Get up early, when it's cooler and more pleasant anyway, and beat the crowds to Pompeii, etc. The only real problem we experienced with going at this time of year was that, in Naples, all the shops except the tourist ones close for the month of August. My husband wanted to visit the antique shops and bookshops but found them closed.

Pompeii Do not miss Pompeii, its a really interesting trip and well worth the train journey!!
