Bliss
from A TripAdvisor MemberIt isn't a five star hotel, get that straight from the start. You won't get five star facilities. What you will get is a charming hotel, spotlessly clean rooms, woderfully attentive but never overbearing service and a wonderful holiday.
The cliffside makes the hotel seem a little distant from the main town, but it's only a 10 minute stroll, with the Bay of Naples as your view as you walk.
The view from the balconies is the best view you can imagine. The small harbour beneath you, with views right across the Bay Of Naples to Vesuvius brooding in the distance. Mesmerising.

from A TripAdvisor MemberVery friendly 3* hotel (if a little basic)
from mpobDublin_IrelandGood Hotel
from Taormina-visitorHotel has a car park but make sure you get there early as you can get boxed in. The access to the car park is from the busy main road and is guarded via an electric gate. You must pull up and ask the people in reception (via intercom button at the gate) to open it for you. Rooms are very basic with just shower/wc etc and make sure you ask for a balcony. Our room ( which I think all have) had AC. This was very good and not noisey. View from the balcony is fantastic (but you need to have a good head for heights as it is a vertical drop to the town below). Views are straight across to Vesuvius with nothing but the sea in the way of the view. Also at night, the town lights up and adds to the view from the balcony. I don`t know if it is just August, but we seemed to have a free firework display going off somewhere every other night.
Pool area very nice and clean with plenty of sun- beds (we went mid August which is a busy time) and excellent views again.
No resturant but decent snacks available and a well stocked bar. Breakfast is held in the large dining room with nice views and is AC/ed. Decent choice, typically, toast, fruit, ham ,cheese , cereals, fruit juice, tea, coffee, bread rolls, croissants all dealt with by very friendly staff. Two hotels further up the hill on the same side as this hotel were excellent with gorgeous views out to the sea and very good Italian food.
Hotel opposite (red paintwork and vertically higher than SC) was nice but very English in its set menu.
Hotel is 10 minute walk down into town along busy main road and quite fumey from the car exhausts. Wine shop on right as you walk into town (not grocery store but just on the bend) had good wine choice and a very knowledgable owner. English newspapers are availbable in the sports shop as you just get into into town (shop is on RH side).
Hotel staff were absolutely brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble and the room cleaners always did nice touches like folding my daughers PJs into a bow each day. Rooms although basic, were kept spotless. The beds are quite firm but we did get used to them. Hotel, although on a busy road was very quiet at night as the rooms are below the road level.
Weather was fantastic all the time, mid 80s and sunny.
We drove to Herkalanium (not sure if thats how its spelt) as we had been to Pompei on a previous holiday. This was very good and being on a smaller scale, was better to walk around. Detail seemed to be better than I remebered in Pompei. Also went to Amalfi and Ravello. These are worth a visit especially Ravello. We stayed there 7 years ago and it is still unspolit with Villa Cimbrone etc gorgeous.
All in all, for a budget hotel, a very good base to visit Sorrento. If you want to see real Italy, stay somewhere like Ravello as Sorrento is full of us English.
Great friendly hotel
from A TripAdvisor MemberThis hotel is amazing, built on the cliff way above Marina Grande.
All rooms overlook the Bay of Naples, some overlooking the Swimming Pool as well as the Bay.
Our room was large, fully equipped and comfortable with good air conditioning, usually needed down here.
The staff were wonderful, always happy to serve you. No job was too much for them.
They appear to love working in this friendly place. It is only a three star but definately deserves more.
Nice swimming pool with loungers.
Breakfast room with a view and have a drink on the terrace at night.
Wonderful place so good I can't find anything bad too say.
Can't wait to get back there!!!!!
Awesome value and view
from A TripAdvisor MemberFantastic View!!
from angelaukWe were in room 34 and the balcony was huge and the view was unbelievable.Vesuvius is right across the bay,the pretty Marina Grande below you and Sorrento itself to your right. It is the view that you always see in brochures for sorrento so it must be the best available.
the pool is lovely and clean,as is the entire hotel. Our room was big and had very comfortable beds. The towels are VERY thin material as seems to be the case in this part of the world but they were actually very effective at drying.
It is not a luxury hotel, just a smallish friendly relaxing place that you feel at home in.Great staff and a great holiday base for exploring.
Pompei is a must, as is the Blue Grotto on the Isle of Capri.
Take plenty of water and even an umbrella to pompei as the heat is relentless there in the summer. It has a massive ampitheatre which looked like the Colleseum.I had no idea that Pompei was so large.we took 3 hours to see only a fraction of it.
Dont think twice - book this hotel now.Any queries I can help with just ask.I am just so glad I read all the previous reviews before I went and thanks to all those who posted.
Good value for money

Getting from Naples to Sorrento Take the ferry! Much quicker and the boats are cleaner than the train and much cooler. Taxis are incredibly expensive!
transport use public transport , cheap and frequent
Ah! waht A view! We recently returned from Europe and cherish our memories in beautiful Sorrento. Settimo Cielo is a quaint hotel...you feel right at home. The view is better than I could have hoped for. Every morning you wake up and go to your balcony to delight yourself seeing the panoramic view you have of the Sorrento Coast and right in front of you (aprox.10miles in front) the incredible Gulf of Naples and that overpowering view of Mt. Vesuvius. Wow! If you want a view...This is the place. The services of the hotel were fine. Nothing to brag about. The breakfast was good. The waiters and employees of the hotel were friendly. They tried to help you in what ever problem you had. The hotel is not modern. The decoration is a little antiquated. But what did I care... With that view! I did not go there to see furniture I went to see Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast. By the way ...many people say that it is not wise to drive the Amalfi coast...We rented a car and we were fine (the parking in Settimo Cielo was free). It is a beautiful drive. The other towns are absolutely breath taking. Positano being the most beautiful. The hotel is situated on a cliff facing the gulf. I traveled with 2 elderly persons and we were fine getting around. They have an elevator in the hotel. There is a bus stop half a block away and it takes you to the center of town. The bus tickets you can get them at any tobacco shop. The hotel serves breakfast and a very simple lunch (sandwiches and things). The baths are a good size and the rooms are big. The towels are not terry cloth but they do dry. They are like large kitchen towels. It was fine with me. The only problem is when you shower the water falls on the floor a bit. Just ask for 2 rugs. That’s what I did. In October they do not put the air-conditioning. My husband was really a=upset about this I n the beginning. But we slept with the windows open and the night air was cool and when we would wake there it was...THE VEIW AGAIN!!! I would stay here again. It had a good localization with public transport close. Thanks Giaccomo and Stefano...you made us feel at home.
