Top Local Tips for Sorrento

Overrated and Expensive Apart from expensive souvenir shops there was very little to do except eat and drink. The beach is a very steep descent from the main square and there is no actual beach when you get down there - just tourist umbrellas and chairs at a price! The food was less than average and expensive, catering mainly for the English palate of french fries and surprisingly ordinary pizza.

You must like the masses if you go July or August All was good but we will never go back during euro vaction season

Enjoy the feel of the town This is one place where you feel comfortable walking around at night, and see the town really come alive. Musical street performances, amazing food, almost every shop owner speaks english and some of the best gelato in Italy. Take the ride out to Capri and spend the day there. Be sure to watch the weather for Capri if you go, for it can be very different from Sorrento. Walk or take the train everywhere - traffic on the main roads is very busy and the taxi's will cost you a lot.
