Top Local Tips for Sorrento

Traffic in Sorrento We visited in winter, albeit in holiday period. The town was busy and the traffic was at a standstill when we arrived.

Getting to the Rota Suites If you're staying at the Rota Suites then you will probably fly into Naples.The taxis are a complete rip off so we got a bus from the airport to the train station & then a train to Sorrento.Very easy to find if you ask someone.As it was our first time in Sorrento we didn't know that the train stopped about 40-50 times between Naples & Sorrento & was not a brilliant journey(but bearable).About 1 1/2 hours.However we did discover that there is a bus from Naples airport to Sorrento (which drops off at the train station in Sorrento) which only takes just over an hour & is very cheap.So we got the bus back from Sorrento when we returned home.Here is the top tip............When you get off the train or bus at Sorrento station the Rota Suites are only 10 minutes away.We wern't sure & just found it easier to get in a taxi which were right outside the station & let him take us there.BIG MISTAKE.....they charge 15 euros as standard for a 2 minute journey.Its a 5/10 minute walk.

Restaurants Try and stay away from the main square and venture further afield to find authentic Italian restaurants. Highly recommend Emelias restaurant in Marina Grande, they dont speak English, food simple and fresh, lovely atmosphere.
