Historical Traveller Reviews of Plaza Hotel

We found a Gem.

from SmurfWestClare
Fantastic location just off Piazza Tasso, very modern hotel which has just been refurbished to a very high stanadr throughout. From the street the hotel looks like an upmarket restaurant or club, all white furnishing and marble floors ( very cool) .
Staff were extremely friendly and all had very good english, nothing was to much trouble and our enjoyment was their top priority. Each floor has a theme colour over white and all the rooms are airy and well equiped, we were on the 5th floor with a balcony which gave us a sea view as well as looking onto the street below, great for sun downers and people watching. The top floor 6th is totally dedicated to the infinaty pool and lounge/ sun bathing area where you can order food and drinks and the views over the Bay of Naples on one side and the high mountains on the other are breath taking.
We could not reccommend this hotel highly enough and it certainly will not break the bank, I have even suggested my friends who are honeymooning in Sorrento to stay here.
This is my first review on Tripadvisor and the reason for this is the wonderful experience we had at the Plaza.
Well done to all involved, please keep it up.

beautiful hotel

from sunhshine
We never actually stayed in the hotel - we were staying in the Rota suites which are owned by the same company. We visited the hotel for drinks and we were given a tour of the hotel - it really is lovely. The entrance and foyer are very spacious and welcoming. The staff were very friendly - nothing appeared to be too much trouble. The rooms were large and very modern. The rooftop infinite pool and sundeck opened last week - our visit was in the evening and the view of the sunset was lovely! The hotel is in a fantastic location just off Piazzo Tasso . If i was looking for a hotel in Sorrento I would def give this one a try!

Fantastic hotel, great location.

Myself and my sister have just returned from a fantastic two week stay in this hotel. From the moment we arrived we found the staff to be very helpful and friendly.

As we have been to Sorrento on a few occasions the purpose of this trip was to relax so we spent a lot of time at the hotel and strolling around Sorrento. The hotel was perfect for this as it had a lovely modern, relaxing feel and a beautiful pool on the roof terrace. We spent several hours every day relaxing by the pool or chilling out on the roof terrace.

The hotel is just a few steps from Piazzo Tasso and therefore very close to lovely restaurants and bars.

The hotel had a new feel about it and was spotless. It was very quiet but I suppose that is due to time of year and a general fall off in tourists in the area.

Breakfast was good with plenty of choice and delicious coffee, We often took a second cup of coffee onto the terrace at the front of the hotel for a spot of people watching! We also enjoyed many cocktails there made by the barman Tony.

The very helpful staff helped us organise a few things that we wanted to do. We would ask a question as we were going out somewhere and when we came back the information would be waiting for us.

Free wireless internet also. I really could not fault the hotel for the price that we paid.

Lovely Hotel. Cool style and great service.

Myself and My partner only stayed for one night, but this hotel made a good impression on us. We particularly remember the service and also the design element of the foyer, and bar area. It has a beautiful entrance, and a welcoming staff, both in the bar and in the reception. We found the staff there to be very accommodating.
Whilst not being the cheapest hotel in Sorrento, it is also far from the most expensive, and I consider it good value for money, if you would like to stay in a hotel that sets itself a high standard of excellence. The rooms are extremely comfortable, and with all mod cons at your disposal. From the modern bathroom fittings to the flat-screeen television, mini bar, and again, a tasteful sense of design, made this a very comfortable stay for us.
Breakfast was lovely. We appeciated that it was not over excessive, whilst giving a good choice of cereals, fruit, coffee, teas and the usual hot and cold fare. Also there was a good choice of locally baked confectionary. Again, the little extras here, are a treat for those who don't expect the attention to detail with the breakfast menu.
Finally, on checkout, we were able to use the business centre, and also leave our bags for later collection, as we made our way along further along the Amalfi coast. I would not hesitate in recommending The Hotel Plaza, Sorrento. It is well situated in the central area of Sorrento, and within short distance of the sea front.

Lovely boutique type hotel, very central location

from amandpm
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Plaza Hotel. Stayed over Easter so it was quite busy but even so the staff were very helpful and friendly. Very good buffet breakfast with friendly waiting staff.
Fabulous location really close to Piazza Tasso and all the bars, cafes and shops. Only 5 min walk to train / bus station.
Would suggest they have a bit more hotel / local info in the rooms but thats only minor. For those driving there is a multi stoey car park just opposite the hotel.
Overall it was a lovely hotel.

Great hotel, clean and well run.

from Darfield
I moved the family to the Plaza after the hotel we started in was over-run by rowdy students!

What a difference. The hotel staff were really friendly and attentive and welcomed our 3 children. The hotel and rooms were spotless. The inclusive breakfast was also good. This hotel appears to be a new venture and the management seem eager to earn a good reputation. A lot of effort has gone into creating an 'eco friendly' ambiance.
The road outside is busy, but no noise problems when the windows are closed. The mini-bar is 'soft' only and there are no in-house movies, but that suited us fine.
I thoroughly recommend it.

Loved the Plaza Hotel

from chrisuk1000
The service was excellent, the guy at the front counter was very welcoming and i can't fault the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The hotel was located right in the town centre which was fantastic for accessing everything, including the train station which was about a 5 minute walk. A great base which enables easy access to Pompeii, Vesuvius and Ercolano. The hotel itself was new and the rooms spotless. The showers were a little on the small side but other than that i couldn't fault it! The view from the balcony was lovely and made you feel a part of the town. The breakfast was very filling, choice of hot and cold breakfast and the waiter was prompt and efficient in providing an excellent service. The cooked breakfast was delicious. Overall it was excellent, i would certainly stay there again and would definately recommend for a Sorrento holiday. Great for couples, older travellers and single people. I found Sorrento a pretty town with a safe and friendly atmosphere, particularly if travelling on your own.

A Winner!

After a horrible experience at Grand Hotel Flora in Sorrento in September 2008, we checked out 4 days early and sought other accommodations for the remainder of our holiday in Italy. We had spent four miserable nights at the Grand Hotel Flora, no air conditioning, moldy bathrooms, noisy location, rude staff etc and were looking for another location for the remaining four days. We wandered into the Hotel Plaza and were just stunned by the welcoming, experienced staff, the beauty of the place, the wonderful location and the comfortable rooms. Balconies that overlook the ancient walls, fresh and delicious breakfasts, accommodating bar and front desk personnel. What a delightful experience. As a well-traveled travel agent, I would heartily recommend the Hotel Plaza to anyone! We couldn't have been more pleased with our accommodations and in particular the wonderful staff.

Chic Classy Central and Clean

from Kiwis_in_Brit
We stayed at the newly refurbished boutique Hotel Plaza for 5 nights booking with the Hotel direct. The hotel is now very upmarket and a different hotel to the old reviews, prior to Aug 2008. The cleanliness of the hotel was without fault. We loved staying there, the location is fantastic, the staff lovely and helpful. Even though the hotel is central the rooms are very quiet and each has its own balcony, the rooms that front the hotel would be the ones to book given the morning sun and the views are not blocked by neighbouring properties. Each floor has it own colour theme, we stayed on the 5th floor and the colour theme was a beautiful red. The interior is very funky but still classy from the glass elevator doors to the classic white and marble lobby. There are some nice touches including having the beds turned down at night and mats been placed beside the bed to stand on. The dining room is only open for breakfast, however was a highlight for us. The quality and selection of the food and the service by the very experienced Maitre D was outstanding. Our only complaint is as with many hotels in Europe is the lack of information in the rooms both about the hotel and how things work in the rooms and also about Sorrento itself.
The staff advised us there would be a roof top pool added for summer 2009 .The hotel will quickly move up the trip advisor rankings and we would not hesitate to recommend the hotel.

Nice place

from Animo2008
We booked in for one night and loved it. It's very clean and modern. It's spacious and the bathroom is fantastic. We did have slight issues with staff who, although friendly, seem to be finding their feet service-wise and could possibly speed up a bit. The wifi was not cheap but it worked fine. Overall, a nice place and a good location.
