Wonderful holiday stay

My son and I recently spent two absolutely wonderful weeks at the Hotel Mediterraneo Sorrento, Italy. The hotel and facilities are well kept and the staff are all friendly, kind and attentive (and multilingual). The pool and the garden patio are the focal social gathering for the hotel guests. The buffet breakfast caters to all tastes and I must say quite filling.

An absolute must if you ever plan to visit Sorrento!

We came here on our Honeymoon and stayed 4 nights. The Reception manager Francesco was absolutely lovely, we told him it was our honeymoon and he arranged some Champagne and upgraded our room.
All of the staff are extremley friendly and offer an exceptionally high std of service.
The hotel was immaculately clean, the pool excellent and I would recommend this hotel to everyone. The hotel also offers great views of Vesuvius and the bay in Sorrento.
As the hotel is 10 mins walk from Sorrento town centre they put on a minibus which is a nice touch although we opted to walk.
The breakfast was really good offering a choice for every pallet.

After much research we decided to stay here for three nights and were not disappointed. Intitial impressions confirmed that we had made a good choice, from the building, grounds and gorgeous pool and the welcome from the reception. We loved the cool blue and cream decor and our room had a superb balcony overlooking the bay. Breakfast on the balcony of the fifth floor restaurant was a fantastic experience - a perfect place to start the day. Pizza at the poolside restaurant was heavenly!!! I highly recommend this hotel

When visiting the Amalfi coast, this hotel has an imposing view of the sea and of the entire panorama from Naples to Capri. Beatiful grounds, great swimming pool, incredibly (this being Italy) friendly, professional, English-speaking staff.
Skip the breakfast and hit the top-rated local restaurants. Rent their boat for the day and visit Capri and Positano in one sweep.

Wonderful service, very good fun, made it a trip to remember. I was really impressed with the service, from the replies to my emails asking various questions before I got there, to my arrangements which were all taken care of by the hotel when I was there. The staff were extremely helpful, entertaining and nothing was too much trouble. It's not the newest hotel, but the rooms are nice and clean, and the pool area is lovely, very relaxing and plenty of room to lounge around and sip drinks. I thought it was very reasonably priced, it was really 5 star service in a 4 star hotel.

I have just returned from a long weekend with my sister and we had a wonderful stay. The hotel has been recently refurbished and is spotlessly clean. We found the staff (and cleaners) to be very helpful and pleasant at all times. Our corner room on the 4th floor had views across the bay to Vesuvius in one direction and along the coast to Sorrento in the other. No bath sadly in our room although I belive the larger rooms have one. The location is right on the coast with a small bar/resturant in front of it. Lovely position to watch the sun set over Ischia with a glass of wine in your hand. The swimming pool is again spotless and surrounded by palm trees. The walk to Sorrento took about half an hour or the hotel bus will take you half the way. Sant Agnello is quieter and more relaxing than central Sorrento but with the same views so for us was preferable.

Top tip - take the Circumvesuvia train to Pompeii (from Sorrento or Sant Agnello) for one Euro!!!!

The only small fault would be that the walls are fairly thin and you can hear the noise from other rooms and hallways. If you are a light sleeper take earplugs but do not let that put you off this hotel.

I would stay here again. We had a great stay.

Lovely hotel but service not great

Beautiful hotel and great location with front rooms having lovely views and a lift to the sea. Large swimming pool and good outside area. We went in March the restuarant was pretty empty and instead of good service we were clearly rushed and the food was bland and overpriced. The next morning (Sunday) the cleaners were hoovering and banging doors at 8am - we had to get up and ask them to be quiet. It's quite a walk to the centre of Sorrento - 15-20 mins brisk walk and the free minibus isn't frequent and only takes you half way.

A wonderful place!! We have been twice in 12 Months and will return again in 2005. The bar staff, restaurant staff and reception fantastic we wouldnt be without them its just like coming home! The only difference being from England is the sunshine in Italy, what more could we ask for!

Wonderful hotel with good service- The rooftop restaurant definately
overpriced and bland food. Directly across the street there are several good and inexpensive restaurants....with good food and good inexpensive wine.
The bar has good Limoncella.

Top Local Tips for Sorrento

efficient travel Buy bus tickets in advance from tobacconists or hotels, then self clip them on the bus. The trains go from Sorrento to Naples and other places.

Day Trips This hotel is in a great location to visit all there is to see along the Amalfi Coast. Take the train to Naples, Pompeii or Mount Vesuvius. Take the water ferry to Capri, Positano or Amalfi. Or hire a driver to take you along the Amalfi Coast and up to Revello.

Buses and trains Whilst the hotel has a choice of trips that can be booked, don't hesitate to use local bus services that pass by the hotel (1 Euro per journey around Sorrento). take advamtage of the excellent hotel courtesy car which stops near the railway station which takes you all stations to Naples, including Pompeii and Herculaneum at low cost. (also, for the elderly, the latter two are free to enter on showing your passport).
