Before travelling to Italy I had read lots of reviews of the hotel and still didn't know what to expect - the reviews were so varied, the food and staff had both had particulrly bad reports. However, in my opinion the Staff and food were excellent but the structure let them down. Our room was small and not particularly luxurious the bathroom again small would have been fine except that on one day I was unable to get the shower to run until someone else turned there's off and another a little later in the morning there was no hot water left for my shower. Over all the things wrong with the hotel didn't add up to enough to spoil the holiday, but did disappoint. The obvious quality of the fittings were suffering from a few years of poor maintenance which showed in the carpets of the hall ways (holed and stained) and in the state of the jacuzzi pool (holes in the tiles and peeling paint on the bottom.), "faded glory" is the most apt phrase to describe this former gem of an hotel.

I'm 14 Years Old, And Got Invited To Stay I This Hotel With My Friend And Her Family, At First I Wasn't Sure About What The Hotel Would Be Like, But I Decided I Would Go. When We Got Into Italy I Thought I Had Made The Wrong Choice, Seeing That Many Houses Didn't Seem Very Developed. Although When Arriving At The Hotel I Realised It Was Paradise! We Entered, Shocked At How Nice It Looked, My Jaw Dropped To The Ground! We Got Showed To Our Rooms By Some Very Helpful And Friendly Staff! The Rooms Were Amazing, Some Containing A Little Balcony So You Could Sit Outside. I Guess We Were Lucky As We Got One Overlooking The Pool So I Could See The Cute Italian Pool Boy Every Day ;] I Was Very Impressed With The Food And The Staff Were So Nice, By The Second Day It Felt Like They Were Family! By The Fourth Day I Got A Bit Homesick, And When Realising This, One Member Of Staff Said That I Could Talk To Her If I Needed To :] This Helped Alot And Comforted Me In My Stay! Sitting On The Balcony At Night Is Very Relaxing With The Italian Music Playing Quietly In The Background. The Entertainment Wasn't As Bad As People Are Saying And Was Funny To See People Get Up To Dance! The Swimming Pool Was Great And Sites Were Easy To Visit Because Of Local Buses, Taxi's Trains Etc... I Could Go On About This Hotel For Ever, I Nearly Cried When I Left! So If Your Thinking About Going To Italy, Please, Stay In The Grand Hotel Parco Del Sole! :] Thank you For Reading This :]

What a disappointment!!!!

The first disappointment was when we pulled up and parked in an old garage and were told to walk over a VERY busy road and upto the hotel which looked very dated indeed. Upon arrival we had missed our lunch and were sent up a dinner. This included 2 slices of ham, 1 salami (that looked like old boot leather), 1 slice of cheese, mouldy butter and a hard cob with a scoop of sweetcorn. The following evening we went down to our meal where we were given a menu to select from. The menu's was thrown in our faces and were rushed to order and no basic manners from waiters were shown. The meal was a slice of beef/rabbit with 5 sprouts. Thats it! The day after i was struck down with food poisoning and had to call out a doctor costing 50 euros. The recpetion were very reluctant to call the doctor. The evening entertainment was diabolical. It consisted of an elderly italian man who pressed 1 key of a keyboard expecting us to believe he was playing this complicated itailan melody. The man even got up to talk on his mobile at one point leaving the melody playing!!! However on a more postive note, even though we had an awful hotel the town of Sorrento itself is beautiful. The views are amazing and the trips included were fantastic. The nioghtlife at Sorrento is fab with all the streets closed off from the heavy traffic of the daytime opening up the roads for shops bars giving you a general idea of the typical Italian lifestyle! Overall, Sorrento is a beautiful place but the hotels do not live upto their **** ratings as the people who we talked to from other hotels seemed to have exactly the same viewpoint!

Was reasonably impressed with the Hotel. Clean, good food, very friendly and efficient staff. Odd parts of the Hotel could do with a lick of paint such as balustrading. However, sincerely lacking in entertainment in the evening. Oldish man playing the same Italian songs night after night. Therefore people tended to go elsewhere after the meal. If they put on different things during the evening people would stay and they would sell more drinks. Also, a Table Tennis Table or Pool table would have been good. The swimming pool is excellent. Overall, good hotel, would visit again.

Fantastic!

We booked this as a last minute holiday and were not sure what to expect. We read the reviews, which were mixed, but kept an open mind. As it turned out the 2 week stay was absolutely fantastic. The drive up to the hotel and the surrounding garden area is lovely. The rooms were large and clean and although we were in a basement with a view of a wall this didn't affect us as we half expected it for booking late. Also, we do not rate our holidays based on the view from the hotel room! All the staff, but especially those in the restaurant were very friendly and helpful and it was a pleasure to eat there for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast consisted of eggs, bacon, mushrooms for the homesick Brits as well as ham, cheese, rolls, cakes and juices. In our two week stay we had 14 different menus for dinner which gave plenty of choice and there was also a separate vegetarian and children's menu. The pool area was clean and the pool was refreshingly cold. Any drinks or food bought at the pool (and drinks bought during dinner) are charged directly to your room but you can pay anytime which we recommend you do in order to assess how much money you're spending. If there was any negative point it would be the walk to Sorrento, which although only 20-25 mins was along a noisy, fume filled main road. However, there is a courtesy bus provided by the hotel which will take you there and back several times during the day. If the times are not convenient there is always the local bus which runs regularly into Sorrento just outside the hotel. They recommend buying tickets beforehand from a nearby tobacconist but we found no problem buying directly from the driver. Important tip: Although the reps offer you trips to all the local attractions they are very expensive and you have to pay extra to get in anyway. All you appear to be paying for is a bus journey and a 'guide' but most of these places (Pompeii, Herculaneum) provide audio guides. We found out later that most of them we could do quite easily and much cheaper by using local and cheap buses or trains. Also, the trips to the islands can be arranged independently from Sorrento harbour. We would definitely return to the Parco del Sole.

What a gem - I couldn't fault anything. Delightful hotel and surrounding gardens, lovely swimming pool with reasonably priced bar and snack-bar, all staff friendly and cheerful - nothing was too much trouble. Food is excellent with plenty of choice. It's a 20 min walk into main square of Sorrento, but local buses stop close by, and there is a courtesy bus several times a day from the hotel. Local buses and trains make for easy transport to Sorrento and further afield for all the delights of the Neapolitan Riviera. A real treat!

It is with great sadness that some of the reviews I have read have been totally untrue regarding this hotel. We have just had a fantastic stay in this hotel, the setting is wonderful in walking distance from the hustle and bustle of busy Sorrento. The rooms were clean and tidy with maids attending every day. The pool area is second to none and if sunbathing is not your thing then sit within the beautiful gardens that are around the hotel. The staff from the General Manager right down to the pool attendants were friendly and helpful at all times. The restaurant serves excellent food and the waiters and bar staff were cheerful and were a joy to see over your evening meal. I would truly recommend this hotel and will be booking again without doubt. Give the Tourist's Bar next door on the main street a try the people who run the bar felt like they were our own family by the end of our 2 weeks.

We had a brilliant holiday in this hotel with our 2 young children. The food was excellent with lots of choice, the staff were very friendly, the pools were clean and inviting. We has asked for a patio room and were put on the top floor when we arrived but they were able to move us 2 days later. We would all definately go back.

My wife and I visited Parco Del Sole for our 20th wedding anniversary, and could not have wished for a better allround vacation. The staff were always helpful and polite, the food was exceptionally well cooked and well served by the immaculate waiting staff. The room was always kept clean and had a lovely view

You go to sunny country and book 4 star hotel on beach city and get room in basement. Room with window which is not even seethrough. Moisture in the room was unbearable. Bed sheets totally moist, ventilation in bathroom non-existant, bed rotten... Service to meet my complaints was worse anything I have seen - arrogant people behind front desk, manager never available. Avoid this hotel.
