Room with window which is not even seethrough. Moisture in the room was unbearable. Bed sheets totally moist, ventilation in bathroom non-existant, bed rotten... Service to meet my complaints was worse anything I have seen - arrogant people behind front desk, manager never available.
Avoid this hotel.

I think the hotel was clean tidy and fun. The evenings were the best when we went, my mum, my sister and me. The meals were good and nightly entertainment was good as well. I am going back on July 2006 again.

This hotel is bordering on dilapadated and nobody seems to care.
The staff were extremely sullen, the rooms were in desperate need of renovation as was most of the hotel and the food/service was probably the worst I've ever experienced. A huge drab dining area, didn't entice us at all. Despite having gone half-board, two attempts to eat there were enough and we consequently spent a fortune eating out the remainder of the time. Anyone who tells you the food is decent, obviously doesn't know any better.
The breakfast selection was reaonable relative to what you might expect on the continent. The pool area is quite good as is its adjacent bar. The position of the hotel is ok, although a little noisy being on the main road where you can easily jump a local bus to Sorrento (to eat!)
We saw a few honeymooners and I would be gutted if this was where I had my honeymoon. If you like overpriced, damp-smelling, sullen service, sub-standard food and very tired & shabby decor - or maybe if you don't have your own teeth to chew proper food with, then this is your kind of place. For anyone else, with any kind of standards, or with any kind of experience of decent food and service, then PLEASE steer clear of this hotel. Do yourself a favour..... don't do it!!!

Nice hotel, but not one for swimmers
from A TripAdvisor MemberWhen we went, early September, the pool was far too cold to swim in. It is very deep indeed (3 metres) and I think that even in the hot weather it doesnt get a chance to warm up fully.
Bar is good, although only Heiniken on tap and it costs €4 a glass (although thats about the norm in the area) Wine starts from €9 a bottle with the meal which is very reasonable.
The meals are not up to much, lots of Pork when we stayed, but some of them are quite nice.
For what we paid the hotel was fine, and also considering what we paid the location was absolutely ideal for exploring all the sights.
Okay, nothing special.
from A TripAdvisor Membert suit gourmet lovers
from notenoughtimeGood location - near enough to walk easily into centre of Sorrento and within easy reach of public transport. Despite being off the busy Corsa Italia the hotel was quiet.
Rooms were immaculate and the chambermaids cleaned them thoroughly each day and picked up the usual clothes dropped by my teenagers. Reception staff were helpful and cheerful.
Now for the negatives:
The restaurant - and let's face it, eating lovely food is supposed to be the highlight of anyone's holiday - well, forget it!! The standard of the food ranged from mediocre to inedible. The restaurant cannot cope with the number of guests and often if people didn't make it down to dinner by 7.45pm they had to queue to get in. The service was bizarre - at first the staff were hostile and bossy, but towards the end got a bit more friendly, but they should have been like this from the outset.
Not enough sun beds. Nothing for teenagers to do in the evening - no disco, no pool table etc - the hotel 'entertainment' - someone singing europop versions of 'Hello Dolly' defies description.
I loved the area, but I wouldn't go back to this hotel - mostly because of the poor standard of the food, that alone is enough to deter anyone who enjoys good food.
Beyond the call of duty
from A TripAdvisor MemberHotel extremely clean, polite friendly staff. St Agnello is a very nice town with the station close by for Pompei and Herculaneum. Walking distance to Sorrento.
What I really want to do is to thank everybody at Parco del Sol, management and especially reception staff, for their understanding of my dilemma as on the day of my arrival, my husband suffered a heart attack and was in hospital all the holiday but I was allowed to have my 2 sons come and stay with me at no extra cost.
thank god it was better than the reviews!
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe dining room was well run & the food was good considering they were catering for 400 people. The head waiters did look a bit fierce but soon warmed up and enjoyed some banter.
My only gripe would be that there were not enough sun beds available for everyone, & despite a notice asking people not to reserve beds with their towels this did happen. Having said that, there were deck chairs.
We have come to the conclusion that a holiday is what you make it!
Go prepared
from A TripAdvisor MemberPool a bit small and gets deep very quickly (watch your kids) and was cloudy but improved as week wore on. May be cold out of season. Buses into Sorrento regular but really crowded during high season. Excursions expensive but worthwhile.
Do your homework - this is not a quiet 4 star hotel on a Greek island, but a working hotel in an already expensive area. The coastline is spectacular and the whole area has an interesting history. All in all only a 4 star hotel in context of an expensive area but not as poor as some of reviews read. I was happy with what was offered.
OK - but not 4-star.
from A TripAdvisor Membervery nice !!!
from A TripAdvisor MemberAn objective review
from A TripAdvisor MemberHaving read some very varied reports on this hotel, we did not know quite what to expect. As it turned out this hotel is fine.
The hotel is set back off a busy road, so a room facing the road may suffer from noise. We were around one side and had no problem. The hotel is set in very attractive gardens with a fountain as its centre piece.
The reception area is pleasant and air conditioned. The desk staff are polite, if not friendly. Dont rely on them for money exchange, three attempts found they had no cash.
Our room was excellent, we had a second bed for our daughter and there was still plenty of room. The room was very clean, the bathroom was modern and spotless. The room had electronic controlled air conditioning (24/7). The room was tended every day and fresh towels supplied.
The resturant was perfectly adequate. The food was simple but well prepared and presented, there were at least three choices for each course. (Vegetarians need to order thier choice at breakfast each morning though).
Outside to the rear of the hotel is a small pool, about 15M long. This, I must admit, was a bit grimy around the water line edge but otherwise was okay. Small children must be watched on the entry steps, as the last one is a big drop. There is a garden terrace bar which was enjoyable in the evening.
WE HAD A THOROUGHLY GOOD WEEK HERE.
