I don't think I have tasted food to this standard in a hotel before. Everywhere was clean, the staff were nice, a nice relaxing sit around the pool and I'd reccommend anyone to this hotel.

My husband and I have stayed at the Conca Park several times. We began our visits in 1985 when the hotel was quite small and did not have the tunnel. The addition of the tunnel is an asset and anyone complaining that it is steep, should read the brochure first. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone, the staff are friendly and most remember you. The food is good and they are quite happy to cook chips for the kids! I can't wait to visit again next year.
Another great stay

We previously stayed at Conca Park in August 2003 and had a wonderful time, so we decided to book again for July 2006, this time bringing a couple of friends with us.

It was really pleasing to be remembered by the Reception and Restaurant staff and nice to see so many familiar faces amongst the staff - a testament to the good management of the Hotel.

This year we had very pleasant sea view rooms with balcony (its definitely worth paying the supplement!)and Mena serviced our rooms immaculately.

As always the bar/pool and restaurant staff were efficient, good humoured and great fun.

We\'ve had the opportunity to stay in many different resorts throughout Europe and Conca Park and the Amalfi Coast tops our bill for a relaxing week away. We shall return!!!

The conca park is an excellent hotel, in a fabulous location. The rooms are lovely and very clean. The food is excellent and varied every night with plenty of choice. The pool is great and very relaxing. The tunnel was not a problem and i dont see why every one moans about it. Also rooms with out a see view are still great
. We did not have to pay for a fridge but did pay for the save but you have to in most hotels these days. Over all the conca park is an excellent hotel and well worth going half bored. I would recommned the hotel and would stay here again.

Not very impressed with Conca Park at all. I think it's more like a lowly 3* hotel with aspirations of being a 4* really. The majority of the staff (with a few exceptions) were miserable and off handed. The rooms were very basic and unless you had a sea view you are staring at a rock face a few away. The food was just about ok but by no means 4*
But worst of all was all the hidden extras that should not be added on for a so called 4* hotel, ie having to pay for the key to the empty fridge in the room, paying for use of sun chairs, sun towels, and the use of the room safe.
On the plus side is good sea views if you're lucky, the interior has had a make over and some parts look quite stylish. and the refurbished pool is quite nice. But as already stated I can not see where it got that fourth star!

Couldn't fault the holiday until our departure day. We had to leave hotel at 6.45am. The restaurant wasn't opened until 7.00am we were issued with packed breakfast which was inedible. Coffee and rolls at the entrance of the hotel would have been so easy and very much appreciated. My only complaint

I stayed at Hotel Conca Park with my mum sister and auntie at the end of may beginning of june 2006. First of all we like all other guests I think, were not aware that there was a long steep tunnel to walk in order to reach reception. You can get lift on the buggies but you have to wait. The staff are friendly, and the bar is great although the prices are hugely over the top! There are a few hidden charges like 5 euros for a sun bed whether you have it all day day or just for 5 mins! Just dont get caught and move when you see the collection man coming! Thats what I did! The fridge and safe in the rooms! Oh well! Anyway, the hotel itself is cool, nice and posh and new but some of the rooms are a bid tatty. We stayed on the 6th floor and the paint was chipping from the walls and the floors were dull and boring. But a friend I met there had a nice room on floor 3! I dont know about the rest! The food in my opinion was groce but thats because I'm a fussy eater but I dont think many people were impressed witht he menu!
Love it!

You can really relax at Conca Park, and not really have to lift a finger if you don't want to. But they're happy to charge you for every little thing! And if you're a pretty girl or traveling with one, watch out--the staff will flirt. They are all super friendly and helpful though, I'd stay there again any time!

An excellent, interesting 4 star hotel(recently renovated and upgraded ). Staff friendly and courteous. Some unusual features such as 150 yard long tunnel from main entrance to hotel which is set against a huge cliff face. Front rooms with excellent sea view, back rooms face the cliff therefore no view but quiet and secluded at night (we found this no problem as we seldom used our balcony). Restaurant very good- worth going half board as menu excellent with choice of 6 to 7 starters and main courses (good vegetarian selection). Nice pool, sunbathing terrace OK, deck chairs free, charge for sunbeds.Plenty of sun on terrace from May onwards. 3 mins walk to edge of town, 10 mins into town centre. If you are booked into the 'annex' then the accommodation is not as good, more antiquated I believe, and you may need to ask detailed questions. Overall well worth a stay , we would go again.

Historical Traveller Reviews of Conca Park Hotel

Lovely hotel, but the food left a lot to be desired!

from Mad-Maz999
We visited this hotel in August 2004 and thought it was lovely; the gardens, the terrace, the pool area, and reception were very clean with plenty of tables and chairs to sit and relax. There was little entertainment but "chill out" music was played outside on the terrace until 12.00. The pool was deep in places and there was a life guard. I would not pay 5 euros for a sunbed as there are plenty of free deck chairs to sit on.
We had a great room with a seperate bedroom for our son which was side facing towards the cliffs, we were lucky to have good views of Sorrento. The hotel was spotless and the rooms were cleaned every day. The tunnel we had heard so much about was a feat of engineering and provided a very welcome shelter from the hot sun when returning from sight seeing trips. The only down side was the food; it was nearly always cold as the staff went to great pains to serve it from the kitchen onto trolleys and then to your table. The restaurant manager (Jim Bowen lookalike) was quite rude and abrupt. There was a choice of 3 dishes from the dinner menu - pasta, meat and a vegetarian option (but no childrens menu) and the sweet was predictably ice cream or fruit. The breakfast was a simple buffet style usually fruit, cakes, cereals, toast etc, with some days having bacon or sausage.
I would recommend this hotel but pay the extra for a front facing room as the cliff facing rooms were really dark and you miss the atmosphere of the hotel.

room with a view

we stayed in the conca park for the third time and can honestly say that each time we go it gets better.

The new marble tunnel entrance is very impressive as are the amazing views over the bay of naples. If you are lucky enough to have a room with a front facing balcony then you could not fail to be impressed.

The entire hotel is very clean and decorated to a very high standard. There are plenty areas where you can sit and relax either by the pool or in the front courtyard.

We found the food to be very tasty with a different menu each night. The staff were friendly and always ready to help. We never felt the need to eat out.

Sorrento itself is a beautiful part of Italy with lots of trips available.
We enjoyed trips to Capri and the Amalphi coast. There are lots of nice shops selling all sorts of leather goods and jewellery.

We will return to Sorrento again and will be booking the Conca park for a fourth time.

Happy overall!

Just spent a week in Sorrento, which is a beautiful town, although very english/americanised! However the Marina Grande still runs as a fishing village.

Conca Park is in a great position with all the front rooms having balconies overlooking Sorrento, the Bay of Naples and the volcano. You can reach the centre of town in about 5 minutes. The rooms were extremely clean - you couldn't fault the housekeeping staff.

Meals are 'a la carte' and the food is average. I had a few lovely meals and some which weren't good - each day tends to vary. We weren't impressed with the pool side cafe, open in the day, as there was hardly any choice, but it was October so maybe they are winding down. The bar area is atmospheric in the evenings with light music - it was never too loud, though I'm not sure what it would be like in the height of season.

Overall extremely happy with Conca Park.

The hotel is in a good position, there is a very long underground tunnel that takes you up from the street to the reception/main part of the hotel. It is a difficult approach for those with mobility difficulties. A buggy was available but staff were not always around to ask for a lift. The views from the front of the hotel are outstanding overlooking the Bay of Naples and directly opposite Vesuvius. It takes approx 10 mins to the centre of the old town but is a long walk to the sea.

One of my party paid £120 to have a single occupancy. We were expecting just that, however, she was in a single room that could not have had another person in, so why pay that much extra when she was not taking a double room? The rooms facing the bay were extra and had a balcony. The room my friend was in faced a cliff wall with a very noisy air conditioning vent directly above.

The food was 'a la carte'. I'm a vegetarian and I got by, overall the food was disappointing, not particularly appertising and often not very warm. I found the waiter on occasions overfriendly and other times rude - a strange combination, seemed to depend on how many drinks you were ordering.

One thing I did find unacceptable was that on two occasions during the week, the outside areas, the lounge and the main bar were blocked off for private parties which went on to late in the evening and fireworks were let off without any warning. There was no prior warning about the parties, they only became apparant on going outside to find tables reserved and notices put up stating private parties. The areas were not seperated off they were simple the best parts of the communal areas inside and outside the hotel.

Despite the hotel being a 'four star' the sheets were not changed during a seven night stay although the cleanliness of the rooms and hotel was very good. The staff all spoke excellent English although sometimes could have been more helpful.

In summary, this is not a hotel I would return to if I ever returned to Sorrento.

We love Sorrento!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
My husband and I have just returned from another wonderful holiday in Sorrento (this was our 4th time!!).
We stayed at the Conca Park Hotel and we'll definitely be staying there again.
We had a room with a balcony and sea view (which is limited but still a spectacular view all the same).
The staff were all lovely, apart from one of the waiters in the restaurant who was quite abrupt and rude- although we did find out on our last day that apparantly this is his "thing" and he's known as Basil Fawlty!! The food in the restaurant was very good, as we've stayed in a few hotels in the area on half board basis the meals at the Conca Park were definitely better then most.Every morning the breakfast was slightly different to the day before, and the cake selection changed each day too. As for the coffee, well I can only say it was one of the nicest cups I had each day!!
The hotel itself was very clean and well maintained.
The pool is lovely too (although a little cold!!),as others have mentioned, you do have to pay 5 Euros a day for a sunbed, we haven't had to pay in any other hotel in Sorrento and really this is a bit of a swizz.
Each night we had a few cocktails and sat out in the garden area which was really beautiful and candle lit.
The hotel is in a good location, very close to the centre of Sorrento, but far enough away to be peaceful.
On reading other reviews about the "Marble Tunnel"leading to the hotel I hadn't realised that this was a walk you had to undergo each day, and if you're laden with shopping and just eaten a big lunch it is quite daunting!! However there are staff at the bottom who may offer a lift up to the top.
As for Sorrento itself, well, we keep going back so it must have something!!
The food is out of this world, I have to mention the La Fenice restaurant which is close to the Conca Park - the staff were lovely and friendly and the food was to die for!!
Although we've never really had a bad meal at any restaurant.
Sorrento isn't a "touristy" sort of place and there aren't many English pubs or restaurants, which can only be a good thing, why go to one of the best culinary places in the world and eat Egg and Chips?
Reps usually guide you to certain shops and restaurants, especially the Pink Elephant or Lucky 7 store for Lemoncello and other alcohol, but there is a cheaper and nicer store called "Vino Inn" it's a family run shop and we've normally found them to be cheaper and more helpful than the others and will also deliver any of your purchases to your hotel.
All in all, we've had a fantastic holiday and can definitely recommend the Conca Park Hotel.

One for the ladies?!!

from A TripAdvisor Member
The Conca Park is a beautiful hotel is a lovely destination. As two women alone we encountered huge problems from the male members of staff there. They were unable to understand the fact that we did not want to " go to a romantic place for a pizza" with them and it got to the point were we were afraid to go to the toilet as we were followed. Great place for men and women to go together, but for women who want to leave husbands, partners at home, do not go to this place.

Great location, shame about the food

from A TripAdvisor Member
I have just returned from the most amazing holiday in Sorrento.

The Conca Park Hotel is in a great location, set back from the main road so at night it's quiet, but you are still close enough to walk to Sorrento's main square in 5-10 minutes.

The hotel itself is immacuately clean and we had a sea-view balcony room which is a must for the beautiful views across to the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius. The only thing that let it down was the food- 'school dinners' comes to mind, it was bland and tasteless, and numerous people commented on this during our stay (we also complained to the rep, as others had done, so there is hope for some improvement). After the first night we couldn't face eating there again so ate out every night afterwards- a recommendation is the 'Da Gigno' restaurant for a good meal in town. The only other negative was the lack of shade by the pool and in 37C heat you need it!

We took the Thompson excursions to Vesuvius and Pompeii, Herculaneum and the Almafi Coast which were good value and with fantastic, highly knowledgable guides. Then we caught the ferry to Capri and did that ourselves.

To sum up the Conca Park's location is what saves it and you will have the most wonderful holiday in Sorrento, just make sure you take extra money to cover the cost of eating out!

Fantastic hotel. Even better than 13 years ago

from A TripAdvisor Member
Having stayed at the Conca Park previously( 13 years ago) I was a little wary about going back, as they say that things are sometimes not as you remember them. well the Conca Park far exceeded my memories. they have done so many alterations to the hotel( all improvements)the tunnel entrance that brings you up from the town is fantastic and quite unique. The standard of accomadation, food and general cleanliness was suberb and couldn't be faulted in any way.
This trip was a surprise birthday holiday and all the staff got involved in the surprise, they even provided a birthday cake which made the whole holiday one to remember for a long time. It is very nice to see that a family run hotel can still go from strength to strength, even with competition from larger companies. I would definately recommend this hotel to any one. We can't wait to return to sorrento and the conca park.

To fall in LOVE

from A TripAdvisor Member
I stayed at the Conca Park for 1 wk in May 2004 it has got to be the best holiday we ever had my husband and i went on our own no kids, what more could we ask for, they say variety is a spice of like and there was no shortage, the hotel itself was amazing the staff where very helpful, meals were different everynite. i cant wait to go back again

Excellent Hoiday

from Maisha23
I have just returned from a 10 day holiday at The Conca Park Hotel. I was on the sixth floor (top) with fantastic views over the bay of Naples. As there were three of us it was a welcome relieve that the third bed was a proper bed and not a put up one. The room was very clean and had plenty of space. We chose not to have a balcony but there was a small terrace where you can sit out at any time of the day or night.

The food was excellent with plenty of choice and lots of handsome waiters to look at! In the evening the waiters served you and for breakfast it was buffet style with again plenty of choice.

There is alot of seating both in and outside of the hotel all very comforatable. The adult pool remains in the sun for the whole of the day and there are plenty of deckchairs to sit on. The sunbeds cost E5 so we didn't use them.

The hotel is situated about a 10 minute walk from the main square and very close to shops, restaurants etc.

We chose to do our own excursions to Capri, Positano, Naples and Pompei and by doing so saved £75 each. The train, bus and ferries are all very safe and cheap.

Overall we all had an excellent holiday
