I have just returned from a school trip feeling feverish. I am not sure whether it was the food they served us or the fact that our rooms were kept to the lowest of quality. As soon as we got their we found cockroaches in the bathroom and when we tried to go to sleep the sheets were all wet?.The window to the room permanately showed a view onto a brick wall as the window was broken and could not be closed. The food which they served could have been made by a five year old with a tub of playdoe. The rolls which were served at breakfast looked like they had been collected from the crator of mount vesuvius. The pack lunches we received weren't even excepted by the stray dog we found in Pompeii! The next morning we found our bathroom was being occupied by a colony of ants and yet again the sheets had remained damp. We tried to complain to the hotel staff but their response was one which you would expect from a primitive cave man. Of course nothing was done about our sheets. And when we arrived on the felt lined veranda we looked down onto a pool with a puddle of brown water in it and thousands of leaves. And so much for the panaramic view the only thing we could see was a concrete road which led up to the carpark. And when it said the hotel was just a couple of minutes away from sorrento what they actually meant is you have to walk along and narrow mountain road with no pavement for at least twenty minutes. If you want to stay in a room with broken beds, doors, windows and tv's then hotel cavour welcomes you. I strongly advise to go somewhere else.

Having seen pictures and description by the Traveleurope site, this Hotel was booked for two days as our base in this area. Upon arrival the Two rooms offered were so basic, dirty and totally unacceptabe, we left immediately. This was the worst experience of a hotel I can recall in a lifetime of travelling.

I am very sorry to say this as I stayed at this hotel many years ago and it was lovely. Unfortunately this time it wasn't! We had planned to stay for 3 weeks, we lasted 2 days!! It was awful, the food was dreadful, no menu even! The rooms were dirty. The 'hotel' bar was never open! I would class this as a hostel and geared towards catering for gangs of schoolchildren - of which there were many! Nothing against schoolchildren, but on our first day there were gangs of teenagers in the pool, which itself is small, with only a small poolside area. There was 7 in our group so as you can imagine it was a little cramped!
I am afraid Iwould not recommend this hotel. We moved up the road to Hotel Villa Igea, same price and in comparison a paradise! We stayed there for the remainder of the holiday and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Well, the web page of the hotel promises a lot more that the hotel actually offers. The staff at the reception were extremely nice, but our first room was horribly dark and cramped, the breakfast was meagre and conducted by waitresses who made us remember Nurse Ratched (from "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest"), there were bizarre rules like we were not supposed to sit near the window offering panoramic view of the sea (advertised on the web page), we literally had to beg for some orange juice, and eventually decided to skip breakfast altogether and eat in the city. There were large groups of really noisy schoolchildren, there were plenty of mosquitos, and the hotel was 15-20 minutes from the centre, with no pavement at all for some part of the way, which was extremely dangerous at night - we should have been warned to bring those orange vests so the drivers can see us! All in all, an altogether disappointing experience for a young couple on their first time in Sorrento (and indeed, Italy). I blame the tourist agency too who recommended the hotel and booked us the room because obviously they had no idea what they recommended...But Sorrento is so beautiful that we definitely will come back one day (yet no way that we will stay at Hotel Cavour again...). Yes it's perhaps great for teenagers, but not for people seeking some privacy and who expect a polite and considerate attitude from the staff...
