Top Local Tips for Sorrento

So much to do so little time. we asked the hotel to arrange a pick up at the airport which was a great idea, we had a chap called Aldo. If you can get him - do it. He also took us on a day trip right down the coast, much much better than a coach trip, he knew where to go to get the best views and how to dodge the endless coaches. He also took us on a trip to Pompeii and Versuvius, he advised us to arrive at Pompeii as soon as it opens and to plan to be away by 1.00 pm at the latest. It becomes very very hot after mid morning, there is NO shade and the heat comes back at you off the stones, but please go it is an amazing place. We were leaving when alot of the coaches were arriving I would say that pompeii in the afternoon is heart attack country!!! He then took us up Versuvius, you can drive 2/3ds of the way up and you have to walk the rest of the way, its colder up there than you would think talke a cardigan. We took a ferry over to Capri and Ischia and lots lots more - What a week!!!! Wonderful

Car Service We used a car service, Persico Car Service, Nino is the driver. He was reliable and knew so much. Email Nino at persicocar@syrene.it He picked us up from train station and drove us to sorrento and also drove us back to the airport. He was a great guy, and knew his history. He told us he does trips everywhere, so if you can find another couple or a few friends I would highly recommend using him for 6 or 7 hours and take a tour of tuscany or drive the almafi coast. He is fantastic!
