ALL the staff were great and the hotel lovely. We would recommend a stay there. Georgina made all of us feel very welcome it was a relaxing 5 days and the PALIO was magical and crazy at the same time. Every recommend was first class and we all came home much heavier but happy Thank you HOTEL ELDA.

Incredibly charming hotel! Rooms were immaculate, spacious and beautifully decorated. The manager/owner was incredibly gracious and helpful. They served breakfast in a charming courtyard. The short walk to town meant that the hotel was very peaceful and quiet. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Villa Elda was one of the highlights of our two weeks in Italy. The rooms were bright and airy. The bathroom was lovely , clean and the towels were soft and fluffy. The breakfast was equally as inviting. The biggest plus of this small hotel nestled in a quiet neighborhood ten minutes from the heart of Siena was the staff headed by Giorgia the owner . She welcomed us as guests in her home. A home that originally was owned by her grandmother. An absolute delight!!!

Perfect Spot for Siena

We had just done a wine tasting and lunch in Greve in Chianti and came in to Siena for one night. We had the afternoon and the next morning in Siena. Hotel Villa Elda looks like it is outside the main historic downtown, but it is such an easy and enjoyable walk that it is no issue whatsoever.

The hotel is lovely with a beautiful room, nice bathroom and nice quiet location. My wife and I loved it. Breakfast was standard.

There is no elevator so if you are on the 2nd or 3rd floor, it can be a haul. We had 2 large suitcases and 3 carry-ons and were fine going to the third floor.

They do not have parking, but when I emailed the Hotel to ask, they have one spot that they will reserve for you if it isn't reserved already. Very nice of them and I was able to leave the car there the next morning as well.

Highly recommend this great hotel.

Fantastic Villa Elda

We booked Villa Elda the day before arriving in Siena after seeing a review on Expedia and we were not disappointed! From the minute we arrived to the minute we left the staff couldn't do enough for us. On the two occasions we didn't make it down to breakfast on time they even set us up breakfast in the gardens(small but with a very quaint feel to them). The rooms were spotlessly clean and very comfortable and while the bathrooms were not 5* quality they were pleasant and again, clean. The location is perfect. It's just a 5-10 minute walk from the main centre which means you're close enough to the restaurants and shops while still being far enough away from the hustle and bustle. Villa Elda is a place where the staff are genuinely warm and sincere and we would definitely stay here again.

Villa Elda has been operated by the same family since 1950, and the tradition of warmth and treating guests like family has carried forward, making this wonderful hotel stand out in today's colder, faster world. Siena, along with the Villa Elda was our base for 4 days in Tuscany, and we could not have made a better choice. The Elda exceeded our expectations with a large, clean, well appointed room with a modern bath; doesn't get any better location with a 5 minute walk to old town Siena; wonderful breakfast each morning, wine in the afternoon - then the staff went over and above, without exaggerating, to make us feel like part of the family. Three years ago, Giorgia Polzinetti took over from her father running the hotel, and you can absolutely feel her passion for making Villa Elda a place you want to visit again and again - and we will. And, unlike some other places we stayed in Italy, Giorgia has instilled this passion and pride in every staff member at the hotel.
Giorgia recommended wonderful, out of the ordinary towns to visit in Tuscany (don't miss Monteriggioni), pointed us to a spectacular dinner in Abbadia Isola and the abandoned monastery at San Galgano. She gave us very good advice to take the bus rather than the train to go from Siena to Rome. We rented a car - they made room for us to park at the hotel for free (and, by all means, DON'T drive into the medieval center of Siena, as we did!). And this really does not capture the warmth of Giorgia and everyone at the hotel - so many small things that made our stay so memorable. Granted, we were there for 4 nights, but even if you are on the 14 cities in 7 days forced march, choose the Villa Elda and take time to get to know Giorgia, her father, and the team. And, be sure to visit the rooftop terrace - one of the best views in Italy.
We tried to get Giorgia to adopt us so we didn't have to leave - we will go back for sure.

Very pleasant surprise

We didn't have accommodations lined up in advance when we arrived in Siena. We went to a tourist booth and they recommended Villa Elda and called ahead to book it for us. When we walked up to the Villa, we thought for sure it was a mistake. After staying at other 3-star places in Italy, Elda was a dream! Our room was so comfortable and had a beautiful view. If you are going to Siena- this is the place to stay!

The owner, Giorgia, named the Villa after her mother. Immaculately clean, quiet, 5 minute walk to the city, and the breakfast was great! This was my first trip to Europe and Italy was an excellent beginning. Beautiful city, clean and historical. See St Catherines cathedral and dine at the recommended restaurants. We bought olives, cheese, prosuitto, bread, and, of course, a bottle of Chianti and enjoyed them in the afternoon on the patio. Fabulous!

Wonderful hotel, fabulous view

The Villa Elda was one of the highlights of our two week trip to Italy - the room was lovely - very comfortable bed, nice linens, fresh paint, attractive furniture, large attractive bath, big fluffy towels, - and the view was spectacular. When the clerk who helped me with my bag opened the window, the view took my breath away. We had a bottle of wine on the roof top deck one afternoon and had a 360 view of Siena and Tuscany. The staff was gracious and helpful - it was so great we did not even mind the lack of an elevator! I cannot wait until we can return to this lovely B&B. And, because we were there in the low season, it was very affordable. Thanks for making Siena even more magical.

Absolutely Incredible

I can not say enough good things about this hotel. The house is immaculate, pristinely restored and extremely beautiful. It is located in a wonderful residential neighborhood less than three minutes walk to the center. Don’t for a second worry that it is outside the city walls, it is a lovely walk and you’re in the heart within minutes.

Georgia and her staff could not have been more welcoming or helpful. It was by far the nicest stay I had during my 3-month trip in Italy. So much so that I decided to extend for an additional night.

This is the type of hotel that will make your travels in Italy very memorable. Siena is perfectly situated for exploring Tuscany by car or by tour (which they will happily help you plan). When I return to Siena there is no doubt that this will be my choice again.

Splendid hotel

My partner and I stayed at Villa Elda during the August bank holiday week. The location is great, it is about 10 minutes walk to the centre of Siena. Our room was very comfortable. The shower facilities are excellent.

There is a set breakfast menu which consisted of juice, ham, cheese, boiled eggs, bread, croissants, pastries, butter, preserve along with tea/coffee (they even have twinnings english breakfast tea!). Not bad - given that breakfast was included in the price!

The staff are very friendly and speak excellent English. We had a wonderful time and look forward to staying there again.

I would also highly recommend Villa Elda for families as well as couples.

Top Local Tips for Siena

Getting there Streets were closed when we arrived (soccer game) and drove around for nearly and hour trying to find the hotel. Tip- we went to the bus station (easy to find) and hired a cabby to escort us. Pricey? Yes, but it was better than driving around for another hour and not getting to our room.

Touring the Tuscan Countryside To really enjoy Tuscany, rent a car and visit all the wonderful walled hill towns. We had a good experience using Kemwel.com. Be sure to get an International Driver's Permit from AAA. Get a small car - it will be easier to maneuver and gas was just over $8 US per gallon. Driving in the countryside is easy, good roads with well marked intersections to keep you from getting lost. You just follow the arrow to whichever town is your next stop. However, do not drive into the medieval center of Siena - we did by accident, and it's somewhat like being in an Allice in Wonderland maze - the highlight was ending up in front of the Duomo on Easter Sunday.
