A terrific place ... with free parking behind the hotel!

We stayed here for just 1 night in early May. The hotel is in a building that is amazing. It used to be a single family home! Wow.

We had a terrific *Garden* view that gave us more than a view of the hotel garden, but gave us a view of the Tuscan hills outside of Siena.

The breakfast was very nice and the staff very welcoming. Their english was excellent.

We would gladly go back and stay longer next time!

Great Hotel

Stayed in a superior room with a great view. Very large room for a good price. At first they wanted 180 Euro for the room. I emailed them back and offered 130 Euro. We ended up settling on 135 Euro. Free internet access in the lobby which is a plus.

This was a wonderful little hotel. Although we stayed in places that were more luxurious, nothing could equal the view from our window of the Tuscan countryside. It was breathtaking. The gardens are magnificent, the staff very helpful. If you are driving get directions into Siena before you set out. Siena is very confusing and the hotel is not easy to find -- but a wonderful desk clerk, Francesca, literally guided us step by step via cell phone.

Wonderful Way to spend our Wedding Anniversary!

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights for our wedding anniversary, while traveling throughout Italy. It was one of our most favorite hotels during he entire 18 day trip. We had a wonderful suite with a large jacuzzi tub. The room was very reminiscent in decoration to the 16th century, yet very updated and new. OUr room overlooked the beautiful garden and the Tuscany Hills / Sunset.

The hotel staff was great; infact they assisted us in finding a private wine tour guide for our stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay at Palazzo Ravizza. Book a superior double facing the garden. The standard double is a bit small & the view of the garden - and more importantly, the Tuscan countryside & sunsets - are a must. The front exterior of the hotel is a bit unimpressive however once you're inside, its a diffrent story. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, the buffet breakfast was good - more than adequate -and the internet terminal in the lobby (free for hotel guests) was a nice bonus. We'll stay here again.

Overall, we liked this hotel. We ended up here at the last minute.
After two nights in Florence at the Hermitage Hotel (where our room was suboptimal) we wanted out. After spending a day driving through the Tuscany hillside and sampling wine in Montelpuciano and Montalcino, this hotel turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The staff was very attentive and helpful. Parking was free. The entrance was underwhelming, but inside the lobby and breakfast area were quite tastefully decorated. The free high speed internet access in the lobby was also a plus for checking email and sports scores. Our room was at least twice as large as any of the four hotels we stayed at in Italy during our vacation. Decor is simple and somewhat "rustic". We visited in November when the weather was cool and rainy, therefore we could not take advantage of the garden terrace and the view. Overall, the price of about 190 euros/night was appropriate.

We stayed at the Palazzo Ravizza in early October and loved it. we were meeting friends in Siena who were staying in a hotel outside the wall.
While our room was more expensive, we had secure parking, a sitting room, a lovely view, great breakfast, a HUGE bathroom, and above all, a great staff. Frederica and Nathalie were both especially sweet and helpful. Michael did averything from luggage to parking to serving drinks to fixing an ornery room safe. We loved it.

My sister and I recently stayed at the Palazzo Ravizza in Siena and absolutely loved it. The large rooms feature beautiful wood floors, tasteful antiques and have spacious, spotlessly clean bathrooms complete with towel warmers. The large, floor-to-ceiling windows open up to gorgeous views of the Tuscan countryside. It's close to everything, the staff was very helpful, there's parking available if you have a car and the breakfast is delicious. I would definitely stay here again. We paid about $180 Euros (higher than the other hotels in Florence and Rome that we stayed) but it was worth every euro.

I stayed for 3 nights in October 2003 and found the Palazzo Ravizza quiet, relaxing and very convenient for the centre of Siena. Inside the city walls, it was just a few minutes walk from the Campo. My room was very comfortable, clean and had a lovely view over the garden and the Tuscan countryside - beautiful. The breakfast was good and the restaurant was excellent and very reasonably priced. Free internet access was a bonus and the reception staff were very helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Siena - not cheap but definitely worth the price.

Hotel was a great treat. I recommend room 50. It is the loft at the top of the building. For 120 Euros you can't beat the view. Garden was very relaxing. I napped for 3 hours one afternoon! We will be back again.

Top Local Tips for Siena

Go on a Tuscan Wine Tour with Nathalie! We had a wonderful 6 hour Tuscan wine tour with Nathalie. She can be contacted at natintuscany@hotmail.com. We went to Castellina in Chianti, Montigliari Winery, Greve (oh my gosh, what a GREAT place!), Vicchiomaggio Castle and winery and the Roccadelle Macie winery. When in Greve, you must go to the meat shop (Le Cantine di Greve in Chianti) and have the wild boar salami. You can buy a 10 euro card for winetasting out of a machine. Try the Super Tuscan wines, they were great.

HOTEL DINING HOTEL Dining is outdoors in the garden setting. It is average/neutral, overpriced with excellent service. Basically, you are paying for the view. There are many excellent restaurants within walking distance that are far cheaper and much better. Would recommend not eating dinner at the hotel restaurant. Breakfast at the restaurant is average with rolls, coffee/tea and juice. If it is not included in the room rate, don't spend the money on breakfast here. Highly recommend Osteria Nonna Gina on same street on corner where many locals dine. Excellent meal and not expensive at all on Piano dei Mantellini 2.
