What a nice place

from G44
We spent three (3) nights at the Hotel Villa Fabbiano during our 2 weeks in Sicily. It's a beautiful hotel with a staff that is anxious to please and help. The rooms are large and very nicely furnished. The hotel is in great condition and clean. Our room had a seating area with sofa that was nice for reading and preparing for daily events. The included breakfast on the top level is more than adequate and provides for a nice view first thing in the morning. Parking is additional (8 euros per day) and the lot is a short walk up the hill from the hotel. You can walk from the hotel to the main street of Taormina in about 10 minutes so the location is very good. We really liked this hotel and would use it again.

greatest 4 star place in Italy

from A TripAdvisor Member
Stayed 2 nights September 2005. Fantastic views, breakfast and service. Superb location . The staff especially Daniel are a profound credit to the trevel industry, I have never felt that individuals cared so much as I did at the Fabiano. We stayed 2 more nights at a 5 star at twice the price and would have been happier at the Fabbiano

Feel like royalty!

from Linkys
My husband and I stayed in a junior suite for 4 nights in September. It was absolutely fantastic. The room was huge - it had a separate entrance with cupboards, a lovely bathroom with claw-footed bath and bedroom with lounge and 2 balconies, one with a sea view and view over the pool. It exceeded our expectations. From the minute we arrived we felt so welcome - the staff could simply not do enough for us.

The buffet breakfast was great = bircher muesli, fresh fruit, followed by prosciutto and cheese, and finish with a wonderful selection of fresh Italian cakes, and of course delicious Italian coffee. The setting is the best - a view over the sea and imposing Mt Etna. We savoured each and every breakfast.

We found the location excellent. It was a 10 minute stroll to the main street and great restaurants. It also has a bus stop right outside from where the bus to Mt Etna (SAT company) picked us up for a day tour. The local bus also takes you from that stop down the hill to Giardini Naxos. The bus from Catania airport will also stop at that stop if you ask. You will see Villa Fabbiano on a corner as you are coming up on the hill. As the bus turns the tight corner there is a bus stop "Fermata" where you get off and walk less than 1 minute back to the hotel. Very convenient.

All in all - I highly recommend this hotel.

Lovely hotel

from AlisonApple
We have just returned from a great holiday in the Villa Fabbiano. There were 6 of us and we had 3 superior rooms (with sea view and standing balcony) which were beautiful. The breakfast was much better than the usual Italian continental breakfast with a lot of choice but also a spectacular view of the sea and Mount Etna. Daniel Fabbiano was very friendly and helpful in recommending good restaurants and arranging trips (we went to Siracusa which is worth a vist).
Our only very marginal disappointment was the pool. Reading the reviews we had expected it to be small but hadn't expected only 7 beds actually in the sun (another 6 in compete shade all day) so get there early if you want to sunbathe! There is a small garden and this could be used to put more beds but the staff seemed reluctant to do this. There was also a bar at the pool but it was never open and although drinks could be ordered by telephone, a bar would have been nice to sit outside during the day and in the evening pre going out.
Taormina is absolutely beautiful with lots of shops, bars and restaurants. The beach is also worth a look and the hotel can arrange transport if you don't fancy the cable car. Would definitely stay in Taormina and Villa Fabbiano again. Ps if you are thinking of travelling Alitalia, recommend against it - they were dreadful and we still have not recovered our luggage!

Very Friendly and Professional

Spent a week in Villa Fabbiano in July. Accommadation was excellant and staff were very friendly and always ready to help with local information. Hotel is perfectly situated near cable car to beach as well as bus station. On the quieter side of town but I think the prettier side and only a few minutes walk into the centre of town. Breakfast is great on the beautiful roof terrace and terrace is gspecial for a quiet evening drink.

Lovely Small and Intimate Hotel - Great Service

from A TripAdvisor Member
Just returned from two weeks in Hotel Villa Fabbiano. The location is excellent i.e. just a short (5 - 10 mins) walk from the main town. Although the pool is fairly small we found it to be quiet and peaceful most of the time and this was during peak season.

The rooms were adequately sized and were air conditioned (although ours struggled once to keep up with the 40 C heat outside - which isn't bad I suppose). The interior of the hotel is "old worldy" and Gothic in appearance and even incorporates part of the ancient Roman necropolis in one of the communal rooms and at the pool area. The breakfast area is on the roof of the building and commands fantastic panoramic views of the sea, the coast along towards Catania, Giarre and the nearby Giardini Naxos. Also has excellent views of Mount Etna. The hotel is also close to a viewing point from which you can see the Isola Bella and Mazzaro beach area. You can also access the steps down to the beach from here or alternatively take the cable car (3.00 Euros return) from just a little further up the road.

The staff at the hotel speak English, French, Italian and German fluently and were very friendly and always happy to help. Daniel, was very helpful and, after e-mailing him prior to travelling he even helped me arrange to have some flowers sent to our room on arrival for my girlfriend's birthday.

Taormina is a great place to holiday with a huge selection of restaurants. Although the hotel serves lunches, we tended to eat fairly cheaply at lunch time buying great sandwiches (aubergine, spicy mushrooms, olives, Italian cheeses and ham etc in great Italian bread) from a delicatessen just five minutes walk away (Mamma Mia's I think it was called) or hot panini's from nearby cafe bars.

All in all a great holiday.

great find

from A TripAdvisor Member
Hotel Villa Fabbiano, a small hotel, was a real find. We spent 2+ weeks in Sicily, and Taormina was a 2-day stopover on the way down the east coast. The staff, especially Daniel the manager, was extremely accommodating. They were friendly, happy to see us, engaging with our 4 year old, gave very good advice (including a day trip expedition outfit to Mt Etna), responded to special requests (like a sandwich for our 4 year old after the lunchtime kitchen had closed) and the rooms were very comfortable and well-designed. I would certainly stay there again.

Fantastic Fabbiano

The hotel lived up to what we had been told and more, the staff could not do enough for us. would definetly go back again.

Fabulous Experience

from A TripAdvisor Member
We just got back from Sicily and had a wonderful experience at the gorgeous Villa Fabbiano. The service was impeccable and extremely friendly. The hotel was a beautiful villa overlooking the water. It had great amenities such as a great pool overlooking the water, rooftop breakfast with a great buffet spread, beautiful bathrooms and general exquisite decor. The location was great - a less than 10 minute walk to the center of town and main attractions - we never had to take a taxi. The staff was extremely courteous and helpful. We had booked a standard room with a standing balcony and sea view but when we got there they had upgraded us to a beautiful junior suite with a wrap around balcony with table and chairs and lounge chairs for sunning overlooking the ocean - at no extra cost. It was amazing! We would highly recommend staying at the Villa Fabbiano - it was our last stop in Sicily and the most enjoyable and memorable!

A Wonderful Visit

from Italophiles
We had a wonderful 2 night stay at the Villa Fabbiano. It was easy to find and yes there was limited parking but we were able to park in a pay area just up the hill. Our car was well taken care of. Didn't need to move it since we spent all our time walking around the area. Cost of parking was 5 euros per day. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Daniel was so kind and we enjoyed our talks with him. Our room was outstanding, and larger than most, so well appointed and comfortable with a beautiful view of the bay. Yes, the shower was small but the bathroom overall was well equipped and immaculate. The rooftop garden area had beautiful views and the breakfast was full of variety, pastries, breads, waffles, cereals, wonderful coldcuts and cheeses including fresh mozzarella, fruits and juices. Hope to return someday!

Top Local Tips for Taormina

Sicily in spring Springtime is definitely the time for Sicily - April/May, when there is less rain and a warm sun but not the blistering dry summer. The scent of Zagara (orange blossoms) is intoxicating. In Taormina, don't miss the Roman Theater and a drive up Mt. Etna.

Getting Around is Fun We walked - careful of Motorcycles & Scooters. WE also took taxi's and booked car & driver for sightseeing. Getting around was not a problem and always fun and interesting.
