easy to use use public transport where possible to get around whether by bus or train as cheap and very easy to use.

Cable car was out of service The cable car that goes to the beach below is out of service for maintainance right now (April 2008) and has been all Winter, apparently. Check this out before planning trips to the beach. There is a bus that goes down hourly, approximately. To get to Isola Bella, where the cable car would normally take you, make sure you take the white beach bus to Mazzaro, not the blue busses going to Giardino or Letojanni (don't go to the depot at the edge of town that has the blue bus to the train station to catch the beach bus--read the directions posted on the cable car building, or ask the locals). Make sure you're not looking at the posted schedules for the blue busses, either. Many tourists, ourselves included, were confused by the various bus lines, beaches, and posted schedules.
