from A TripAdvisor MemberBreakfast terrace is lovely and the breakfast is nice. Personnel is young and friendly.
Only ding is that the Internet service is supposed to be based on minutes, but the units flashing buy seemed to go by much faster than by minute.
We liked it so much that on our trip back from Agrigento we had originally planned to stay one day at the Hotel Villa Angela. Instead, we stayed at the Condor again.
Great place!
from kramer9399Helpful staff that spoke really good english...and a great breakfast as well....The internet cafe is also pretty cheap..Within 5 minutes walk of everything in Taormina including the cable car that brings you down to the beaches!
perfect hotel for size, location, service, value
from A TripAdvisor Memberclose to centre, but still away from the hustle and bustle. excellent value.
i could have spent more time there it was so welcoming. highly recommend.
Bougainvillea and sunrise
from NolanaThere's a beautiful terrace for breakfast - or there is an inside breakfast room. The view from our balcony, and from the breakfast terrace (and two higher ones for sunworshippers) was worth staying there for alone - as good as any top hotel !!! It's a view over a ravine like a big letter V, with villas and trees, bougainvillea, cypresses on the slopes, to the sea with the mountains of Calabria on the horizon. It was romantic in the evenings as the setting sun shone towards the sea and mountains, and in the morning - you would wake with the sun rising over them. The terraces are full of flowers and leafy plants - with an awning for shade during the hottest mornings. In the floor of the ravine there's the Lumbi car-park with a shuttle bus service up to Taormina - but you don't notice that if you look straight out from the balcony or the terrace, as the hotel is up on the hillside ! We found it quite fun to watch people arriving and catching buses and those who decided to walk up by the stepped footpath wending their way up the hill. But it is right down in the floor of the ravine - so doesn't spoil the view.
Breakfast was : fruit juice, two bread rolls each, ham/salami, cheese triangles, sweet biscuits, toasted plain biscuits (English biscuit - I think it's cookies in US ?), and a sort of fairy cake, butter and assortment of jams. Tea, chocolate, cappuccino or espresso to drink. The young lady who served breakfast was very courteous and gentle and remembered our preferences for drinks and breakfast items. The proprietor's wife - in the kitchen was friendly and solicitous. The chambermaids were also courteous and friendly and the rooms were always clean and the linen changed regularly.
The proprietor and his son helped us with our suitcases (only one each) on arrival and departure - giving us a warm send-off so that we felt we were leaving friends. There's an internet room at the hotel that you can use for two euro for twenty minutes, and multiples of that.
The short walk from the centre of town is slightly uphill, but it's not a problem. Apart from the central high street, Corso Umberto, all the side streets in Taormina are either hilly or stepped alleyways. Shortly after we arrived, the hotel started to offer an evening meal - the first time they had done this, apparently - and an experiment. They continued to offer a varied menu every evening. We did eat there twice and it was very good, with fresh fish specialities on offer. We like to spend our evenings eating in different restaurants and in the different towns we are visiting on our day trips, but would not hesitate to recommend these meals to anyone, they were good. The next time we go to Taormina, we will certainly return to this hotel - I do wish they were open all year round !!!
Wonderfully friendly place
from A TripAdvisor MemberWill recommend to all
from A TripAdvisor MemberThis suited our needs i.e. clean place with good views and easy access to centre (and of course friendly staff as this is Italy and this is not to be taken for granted). We didnt plan on spending time in the residence by day as Taormina has so much to see so this was perfect.
Value for money and we will stay here again when we return.
A little gem
from aging_backpackerPhillipe and Marcello owner and son could not have been more helpful and charming. Breakfast was served on a flower laden terrace looking down to the sea, with meat ,cheese, bread and jams with plenty of coffee. A five minute walk into Corso Umberto and all the main sites. Parking is provided with a small charge. Only small complaint the bathrooms are a little tired and perhaps need a make over in time. The situation, service and cost over ruled this complaint. Would certainly use the hotel again.
Loved it!
from A TripAdvisor MemberWonderful Hotel!
from WillCulpHotel manager Filippo is very nice and helpful. He helped us book some Etna tours for very reasonable prices. Also very fluent in English.
Complimentary continental breakfast served on the terrace, again overlooking the town/sea. Breakfast was the best we had on our two week trip to Italy. Meats, cheeses, jams, breads, etc...
Easy walk into town and right next to the stairs going up to the old castle.
Would definitely stay here again! It was sad to leave.
So easy we stayed longer than planned
from MomondHotel Condor was great. It was inexpensive - as compared to ither places in Taormina. The room was charming and clean. The owners are great and helpful. Their English is a little better than our Italian skills so we were able to work through whereever needed. The breakfast is small Italian style, but the cafe/Cappucino was great. We would stay there again - which I guess is the best review any place could receive.
Top Local Tips for Taormina
Lots of Places to Eat. Many are a little overpriced, over-rated, or both Get dining recommendations from your hotel and other travelers. Check the menus and check your tab (il conto). You can trust the restaurant owner's suggestions but not always the addition afterward. Allow yourself to go crazy with the gelato, the granite, and the pastries. Enjoy it now and save your regrets for when you're back home.
Nino's Try Nino's Trattoria near cable car station
Beware of holiday in August in Taormina We stayed here for 4 days in the middle of August. Not recommended. The town was packed with Italian who come to Taormina for their own holidays. They all come from mainland Italy were they closed up shop for the month of August and come to Sicily and other islands around Italy for their own vacation. The town was packed with people and even walking up the main shopping street was a nightmare. You just keep bumping into people.
