Taxis Be careful at the airport when arriving as there is alot of Gypsies around!

Make your own lunch If you're wanting to splash out on those huge evening meals - the Sicilians like an apatizer, a first course (as big as a main course in the UK) a main, a pudding and some tasty house wine - then I suggest finding a small supermarket, there are loads dotted about on back streets, the one near the Bristol Park Hotel was called Moma Mia's. They sold water, beers, nuts, crisps etc at much better prices than the snack bars, but if you ask, they also tend to make you fresh sandwiches - which were way better than any snack bar we found and over half the price! Then ask them to wrap it up, and you've got a picnic for the beach, long walk, or to have in the great gardens there. So you can then have more esspressos and icecream!

Your own Boat Trip Get a bus to Giardini Naxos and find the port. You can hire a boat to take you round the bays near Taormina and to the Grotta Azzura ("Blue Cave"). Cost was 50 euros for 2 persons
