Top Local Tips for Palermo

Nice stay in Palermo We found Palermo very clean despite what some people might have said before we left. Compared to other Italian cities (let's not mention Naples which was awfull before the garbege strike, cities like Catania, and even in some extent Rome)Palermo surprised us. It is also one of the safest and friendliest places in Italy (It is also very useful to try to speak a little Italian). We found excellent restaurants (not once were we dissatisfied with our meals) and it was easy to take the bus or the train to visit other places (we do recommend spending a day in CEFALU, a half day in MONREALE where you will discover the most extraordinay church, probably one of the most beautifull we have ever seen, spend half a day or a full day at the beach in Mondello, you can take a city bus to get there). A note of warning, if it is a national Holiday, there are NO public buses. We do not recommend the CITY TOUR, we found it expensive, not well organized and most places we could have easily walk to.

Pallazo Savona Great place to stay for cheap. Clean, 30 euro for a double bed. Centrally located.
