Top Local Tips for Palermo

Unethical taxi drivers Watch out for these guys in Palermo! There is no such thing as a fair taxi ride in this city. You're in the cab for 2 minutes and all of a sudden the meter says $20. Every trip we had (even to the same locations), the price was different. They play games with the meter and then try to sell you their personal tour guide services. Best to avoid taxis if possible.

No parking in Palermo Take a taxi around Palermo. There are no parking hauses or anywhere to park. Driving is difficult even for Italy.

Watch Out for car! If possible, leave the driving to a Sicilian. I am so glad we hired a driver as I have never seen such crazt drivers---and I live in Boston! And have driven in Paris, London, Turkey etc. Most cars had a ding on them from some accident and we saw several accidents in our short time there. Get a driver and safe yourself big-time stress!
